Color: Ebony Green Verified Purchase
PR Ebony Green is right now one of my favorite inks. After a time as an ink "purist" and using only black and blue/black, I have finally decided to explore the thing about fountain pens that sets them truly apart: ink selection. Writing with Ebony Green feels like writing with a secret: a dark green that could pass for black with an EF nib, but upon closer inspection after a short time it lightens to a beautiful emerald green that always surprises me. It bleeds through very little, drys in an acceptable time, and produces amazing shading in broader tip nibs.

Color: Avacado
It drives my spell-check program nuts, but "Avacado" really is how this Private Reserve ink's name is spelled. It's been in my rotation for some time, and is currently my favorite ink, in part because of its characteristics, but mostly because of its color. Unlike several other medium or lime-y green inks I tried, Avacado is the deep, rich foresty green I was looking for. On broad strokes, the green can tend to a very dark color, like -- well -- a ripe avocado. I think it's a beautiful shade.

This ink also dries quickly, in my experience, and there's little feathering even in Moleskine notebooks, which can be notoriously unfriendly to fountain-pen inks. On a crisp sheet of white Rhodia Classic Staple Bound Blank Paper Pad 8.25 X 11.75 paper even meeting notes can be a thing of beauty when boldly enscribed in Avacado.

Color: Tanzanite
I've just received a bottle of the PR Tanzanite and am absolutely enamoured with this ink...I have over 20 different bottles of ink from the four corners of the earth and beyond, so I know my inks. Yes, the ink has a slow dry time, and if your not careful; it can smudge if not given enough time, but there is always a price to pay for having something worth having...This ink has a brilliant, rich tone that shows well in both fine or broader nibs. Having an ink this color on this side of purple with blue undertones, makes it an excellent choice as either a personal or business use ink...I have always enjoyed the great flow of Private Reserve inks, and this one does not disappoint either. And of course who doesn't benefit from buying a product made in the USA!!! So do yourself a favor if you want to treat yourself to something totally different and unique, give this ink a try...I promise; it want leave you on the "dull" side of life...That's just my opinion...I do however, take one star off for the slow dry time; but there's no such thing as perfection...Enjoy

Color: American Blue
After the demise of the Parker Penman inks and their Sapphire blue this has been my favorite blue ink. It's all about the richness of the color. If there'a a "perfect" blue out there other than this one I haven't found it yet. Give it a try.

Color: Orange Crush
After many years working spent working through the standard bottle of Mont Blanc black ink that came with my fountain pen, I finally started experimenting with different shades from different manufacturers. I'm a satisfied customer of Noodler's and Herbin, but no ink made me think I needed to write a review and tell people how great it was until I used Private Reserve's lovely green-black Private Reserve Avacado Ink Bottle 50ML. Now "Orange Crush" has had that effect too.

Despite the name, Orange Crush does not have the bright, almost florescent, color you might associate with the soft drink of that name. In fact, it's a much darker ink that dries nearly medium-brown on the page ... but a brown with definite orange highlights that will come out more or less visibly depending on your handwriting and the size of nib you use. It's a fascinating, rich color that makes me think of pumpkin pies.

Pumpkinish orange-brown is not a shade that may work in every setting, but for an intriguing and different spin on note-taking or letter-writing, I'm glad I added this one to my bullpen.

Color: Electric DC Blue Verified Purchase
Private Reserve Ink has never given me any problems, and this shade,
the ELECTRIC blue is the best .shade of blue I've ever seen.
The "electric" means that it really jumps off the page. Many shades
of blue look dull due to too much black in the formula. This is the
best balance I've seen. I also like the shade of Noodler's Baystate Blue,
but it is pretty finicky - some sort of odd old-timey formula. So the DC Electric
Blue is the color I use on just about all occasions. I keep a bottle at home as well as one at the office.
And this ink is really inexpensive given how good it is.

Color: Dakota Red Verified Purchase
I normally love the Private Reserve inks, as I have said in several reviews (I have most of their colors!). But this one was either a bad batch --either it sat in a very hot storage location or froze and was thawed out, I don't know-- but the ink was thick, opaque, and had visible sediment. I returned the first bottle, and the seller sent me a replacement that was exactly the same. At that point, I gave up. I have never had any other problems with Private Reserve ink, so I'm not sure what happened with this particular color.

Color: Fast Dry - American Blue Verified Purchase
One of my favorites. Dries fast and it is a very pretty color of blue. Dries fast and doesn't feather nearly as bad as Noodler's Bernanke Blue (Noodler's fast dry ink). I still prefer Omas Blue to this ink, though. It dries fast and doesn't feather at all on the paper I have used. This ink is cheaper though.
