So far, happy with the purchase., March 9, 2009
Musician of 8 years, audio engineer of 4. Theater tech/design major, music minor.
I bought these headphones with the intent of getting the most I could from a college student's budget. Up until now, I've been almost exclusively buying Sennheiser equipment. For the under $100 price range though, all of Sennheisers units were either made for those with tiny heads, those who only listen to bass at high levels, or both. I am neither. I was recommended looking at the K99 and K77, and was pleased with what i found. First out of the box, I found them a lot lighter than I expected. Putting them on, I found the self-adjustment feature wonderful and no pressure around my ears. The pads around the ears are stiff, but I expected as much, and they feel as if they will loosen up soon. Definitely not high quality leather, but not bad either. Happy with what I saw, I put them on and worked on some unrelated paperwork. Much to my surprise, four hours went by quickly and I had no comfort or heat issues. They were slightly hot, but that will be found in any pair. The lack of weight definitely helps.
I had read elsewhere that the quality of the K77's was kind of flat and had to be tweaked to find a happy spot. I agree with this, but it was a small adjustment I made on the computer. I ran through classical, pop, heavy techno, and country. In each of the genres, I found the sound to be clear and accurate. They seem to perform best in the pop genre with quick articulation and some of the advanced bass. However, the bass was only strong enough to be known, not blow the eardrums. The overall range seems accurate so far. Out of the box, the sound seemed stiff and somewhat with-strained, but this will decrease as time goes on and the headphones loosen up.
Overall, satisfied with the quality for the price. Definitely not audiophile quality, but about as close as you can get.

Wonderful headphones, but I have two complaints, November 16, 2009
First off, these headphones are very well made and feel as though they will last quite a long time in spite of the large amounts of plastic used in the construction. There is only a single cord which is marvelous for tangle-prone people like myself. Also, the headband encompasses even my large head and I daresay these would be the most comfortable headphones I've owned if it weren't for one problem.
My ears tend to stick out from my head, thus, after long periods of usage, my ears begin to ache and I am forced to take a several-hour break. Therefore, if at all possible, locate a pair of these headphones and try them on before purchasing.
The only other minor annoyance was the open-backed nature of the headphones. Of course, this will hardly matter to most, but if you are used to closed-back headphones, the difference is both noticeable and slightly annoying. Do not buy these headphones should you fall into this category.
In spite of these two caveats, I use these headphones heavily and can easily recommend them to anyone looking for quality.

Works as advertised, September 24, 2009
Haven't used them all that much yet, but they fit nice and the sound quality is very good. Although they do need to be aerated at times after an hour or so of continuous listening. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a very good quality headphone at a lower price.
