Often times with galvanized parts you get a feel for the quality with how well they applied the galvanization. With this part it was clearly done right. I'm rebuilding a 1970's boat trailer and it's tough finding parts that are built today with the same quality as 40 years ago. This roller meets my quality requirement, I would buy from this manufacture again.

I don't know if I just happened to get the only one nobody inspected or they are usually like this. The 3" distance between slots is the CENTER of the slot - right on top of the edge of my 3" trailer frame. So you can't mount it unless you drill out or ream the excess. The roller rod was way too wide - there was almost an inch of play between the mount and roller. This was the most overpriced piece of junk I have purchased in a long time. Because I am repairing a trailer and out of time, I am replacing the rod and making the modifications for mounting instead of returning it. Will not buy another of this brand.

MUCH better than bunks for small boats! I replaced the 6ft bunks on my trailer for the 14ft Livingston, way easier to push the boat off the trailer.
Pricey but excellent quality (you get what you pay for)

This roller lasted 3 trips before it developed a flat spot and had to be replaced. I have a 700 lb aluminum boat and it didn't hold up to launching it 3x before the thin aluminum tubing inside the nylon dented and would not allow the boat to roll off the trailer as designed. I would buy a stoltz roller 10x before I bought this roller. Steer clear of this one. The only support for the weight of your boat is the two plastic grommets on the ends.

I was rebuilding a 1971 Gator trailer and chose to use this keel roller to replace the original smaller 5" roller. This was an excellent choice and it looks great. Very heavy duty and has proved essential to help me load my Lund boat. The 'V' design helps keep the keel centered while the boat is winched up on the trailer.

The specifications indicate that the slots are 3 inches wide on this roller. I ordered a pair of three inch wide square u-bolts with this roller as suggested by Amazon, however, the square u-bolts will not fit the slots as they are too narrow. So beware if you think you can attach this roller to standard 3 inch tube steel without drilling the the roller panel. The square u-bolts (TowZone 86826 Zinc Plated Square U-Bolt) I ordered do in fact fit the 3" tube steel of my trailer so it is definitely the plate on the roller that is the wrong size.
