I just wanted to chime in here to defend this product - as it seems that everyone who reviews it is angry because it "doesn't work".

What this item DOES NOT do - it will NOT transmit Homelink signals - the back of the box shows this clearly with a flow diagram.

What this item DOES do (and does WELL) is transmit Z-Wave signals when it receives a Homelink trigger.

I'm using this with my MiCasaVerde Vera Lite (set as the primary) and the WDHA-12R set as the secondary scene controller. Follow the directions on the MiCasaVerde site for including it in the Z-Wave network - they do differ from what is shown in the instructions (shown here: [...] or google "WDHA-12R micasaverde" and it's the first link that comes up). I followed them exactly, and it included the 2nd time (like the instructions says it should). I then created a test scene and tied it to the "Scene 1" button. Punched the button on the controller and the scene activated...just like it says it will. I then walked out to the garage and programmed the Homelink functionality - followed the directions in the instructions and it paired right away. I then walked back inside, plugged it in, walked back outside and pushed the homelink button in my car and Voila - it triggered the scene just like it's supposed to.

If you're buying this product because you (wrongly) think you'll be able to control your garage door with it via Z-Wave, you'll likely give it 1 star - as that's not what it was designed to do. If you, however, want to trigger Z-wave scenes from your CAR (which is AWESOME BTW), this is the only product on the market that will let you do it.

Highly recommended...

The reviewers who gave this a negative review have no clue what they were purchasing and as a result had unrealistic expectations. This is a z-wave scene controller which can be linked to the homelink system in your car. It's a bit of a pain to setup because the instructions are crumby. The biggest part of the puzzle that's missing, if you're using a Vera, is that after adding this unit as a secondary controller, the primary controller's scenes do not show up on this one after you add it. The trick is to specify the controller and the correct button in your scene's trigger. The directions for programming the homelink portion work perfectly. Also, this unit appears to be identical to the cooper device for a boatload less.

I use this gateway device to run zwave scenes from my auto by pushing a home link button. It is convenient to run the 'lights on' scene when I pull into the driveway, and now I don't have to open my phone to run it. Some of the reviewers here don't seem to know what this device is designed to do.

I setup this device as a zwave sub controller on my micasaverde vera 2. Then I assigned a existing scene to one of the buttons.

This is the tricky part....
I assumed that I would have the homelink button learn the code from the gateway.... NO!
The gateway actually learns the code from the homelink button.

So I did this...
I took the garage remote I previously used to program the homelink button that controls my garage door. I then had the homelink in the car learn one of the buttons on the remote that I wasn't using.
Then I had the gateway learn the homelink button I just programmed.
It works great!

... one more tricky thing.
I tried to have another car learn the remote button but the gateway doesn't activate when I press it. Nor does the gateway activate when I press the button on the garage remote that I used to program the homelink button. But you can have the gateway learn the other cars button on another scene and then make the scenes on the gateway do the same thing.

I ordered the WDHA-12R but received the WDHA-12L. After reading other negative comments, I was concerned and contacted the seller. They promptly responded that the two units (12L and 12R) are electronically equivalent, they were simply branded differently for different markets. The seller provided a web link to www dot authinx dot com slash manuals slash WDHA-12R dot pdf. These instructions included pairing the unit with Homelink.

Indeed the seller is correct, I was successful and have the WDHA-12L working seamlessly as a bridge between our Homelink equipped vehicle and zwave scenes! Thank you!

I did as another reviewer suggested, and first programmed the Homelink Buttons for my garage door, so each button would have a transmit code associated with them. Since my garage door uses rolling codes, I only programmed each Homelink button for use with the WDHA-12L with one single code and skipped the steps in the vehicle instruction manual for the subsequent programming for the rolling code feature. Probabilistically, this should never be a problem as the rolling codes shouldn't repeat in the lifetime of usage so operating the Homelink buttons 2 or 3 for the lighting scenes won't operate the garage door which I did program to the Homelink button 1 with rolling code. After several tests - I can confirm this is the case, the garage door does NOT open when operating buttons 2 and 3.
