I had the Reese Towpower on the bulldog hitch and my trailer was stolen. They just busted it off with a hammer. It broke like the cheap piece of pewter junk that it is. I would rate it 0 stars if possible!

I have owned three of these devices, purchased from a big box store, over the past two years. I currently have one on my trailer as I write this review. The first one quit locking and unlocking. The lock mechanism simply fell out of the casing, key and all. Not a confidence-builder. The second one snapped in two pieces when I bumped it with my truck hitch when attempting to connect the trailer. The third one is working as it is designed. Each time I replaced it, I took the old one back and got a new one. I would not spend money on another one.
I give this one star for a simple reason: I don't trust it to do the job I bought it for. The yellow ball flange is made of pot metal and will crack in two with minimal force, as I discovered when I bumped it with my truck. The lock construction is flimsy, as I discovered when the first one fell out of its housing. The whole idea of a "fake" anti-theft device ought to be presented more straightforwardly, as in "Reese Fake Trailer Lock". In reality, this is a mild deterrent at best. Tonight, after hearing from a fellow vendor that he'd found a broken trailer lock in the parking lot, I moved my trailer to a more secure lot rather than risk my trailer to the "safety" of this device. It keeps the honest people from stealing my trailer, that's all. I'm here on Amazon looking for a serious trailer lock and was surprised to find this one listed.
BTW, I owned two of the Reese hitch pin locks too. The first one quit working when the lock fell off. The second one was on my multi-ball hitch when someone stole it.

Update, July 9, 2014: The third one, in use when I wrote the above, also failed. The teeth/cog mechanism (only on one of the two shafts that slide into the yellow ball & flange) quit working and I could simply pull the "lock" on and off.Read more ›

Convenient lock-ability for your trailer, nice feature to have matching keyed locks for all pieces, but not super heavy duty. I wouldn't recommend relying on this set if you're in a high crime area or leaving the trailer unattended for long periods of time... Its more of a deterrent to opportunistic thieves who are looking to make a quick getaway. The yellow ball block is thin cast metal that would probably fall apart with a good hit from a sledgehammer, so it should not be relied upon as your only security measure.

This worked great to secure my trailer. The universal coupler lock (the yellow item) was easy to install by inserting it into the coupler and attaching it as if it were a hitch-ball. The little padlock can go on as well to provide additional security. I haven't tried the hitch pins yet but they were simple to operate when testing. The best thing is that all of the locks are keyed ALIKE! I hate fumbling with keys to unlock various locks but with this kit there isn't that issue. I highly recommend this to anybody who needs to secure their trailer for both towing and storage.

Once I had these in hand it was obvious they weren't meant to stand up to a prepared theif, but you get what you pay for. Locks just keep honest people honest; your not going to stop the prepared theif.

The yellow coupler lock doesn't work the best. the sliding bar doesn't move through the body of the lock as smoothly as it could and the catch for the lock seem to be a bit loose. You have to work with it a little to get it to catch. All of that said, it's enough to deter crime by the casual passer by and a good buy for the price.

The u bar of the ball lock is not quite wide enough to go over the tongue of the hitch. Should be about another inch wider. I would imagine that the width of the flange on the tongue vary a little from one manufacturer to another. I would recommend measuring the flange at the ball socket to ensure that this will fit before you order. The inside of the u bar is 3 7/8 inches.

I love Reese products... but Im not truly impressed with this kit. I noticed the hitch pins have a little rust on them. That's annoying, but what really irritated me is the latch lock...it was froze up when I got it out of the box. I worked with it about 30 min just to get the key in it. Half a can of WD40 later I got the lock working. Coupler lock looks okay. I'll have to see how these hold up to Missouri humidity lol.

I love this lock.....BUT...
I love this lock set. It seems solid enough, simple to install. I'd give it FIVE STARS if the second pin had a lock. I have a two pin setup since I had to couple from a 1 inch to a 2 inch receiver. So I'm still vulnerable to theft I suppose. I will report back if a problem arises.
