Important Information

Ingredients

Low temperature dried dulse.

Directions

Basic Prep Our dulse comes directly to you without processing or washing out any of its mineral richness. Please check for occasional tiny hidden pebbles or shells in the leaves. Store your dulse in this bag out of extreme light, heat or moisture. If uncooked dulse is too chewy for you, allow it to absorb some ambient moisture (steam kettle, damp towel, humid room) and in a few days it will be tenderized by its own live enzymes. Rinsing the dulse briefly will tenderize it more quickly and make the taste less strong. Cooking with dulse is a treat. It is fast and flavorful. Try pan-frying some leaves in a well-oiled skillet until they turn brownish and crisp. Kids love these "chips". You can dry roast dulse pieces in a medium hot skillet or low oven until the leaves turn greenish- not black (burned!) Crumble them on grains, soups, pasta, pizza or popcorn.

There are over 2,000 types of trace minerals and natural minerals and even iodine in this power packed seaweed! Especially if we do not eat much iodized salt anymore. The sodium tastes like it is so high, but only 122 per serving (1;3 cup)! I do not sell this, nor make a profit, I grew up on this stuff in Nova Scotia. I can no longer get it at local health food stores, so I order it from Amazon.

I eat it as a snack (with a tall glass of water to drink) and I have put it in hot frying pan to make it crispy (changes color a bit) great for tossing into popcorn or in salads. I get the seaweed in pieces, it comes also in flakes which you can use to spread (pieces to large to use in salt shaker) but you can get a shaker with larger holes. Then, you use as if it were salt on foods.

The taste is aquired, and different than sushi type Nori or green kelp seaweed, but if it is for you, you have an electrolyte packed source for life! Affects thyroid (iodine) so check with your doctor if you have an issue, but, if not, is a great weight loss healthy aide. Take apple cider vinegar (can be taken in pill form, it is only food, not medication) can be taken with the seaweed as an old-time diet aide.

I guess you can figure out that I LOVE this stuff! I used to eat it all the time, but now I eat it in moderation as it is such a powerful food, then my body does not have ups and down in nutrition and iodine.

This is the ONLY brand I am aware of for Dulse.

This dulse is fantastic, sundried deliciousness! My household goes through at least 24 of these biodegradable pouches a year on account of my tsunami popcorn (airpopped corn, dulse, nutritional yeast, occasionally rice crackers -- Hawaiian style) habit; don't forget salt & vinegar dip. We used to buy them from a health food supermarket, but you can't beat the quantity here. I think the price is about the same.

Also try this dulse (or the less savory flakes) in vegan baked beans, black eyed peas, adzukis, etc. Great substitute for bacon in beans, soups, or salads. Really wonderful stuff, though it may take getting used to. I've always been a sucker for a good seaweed salad! Will stink up cabinets or anywhere else that you store these bags and flavor other items over time, so store carefully (it can also get really dry if left (or forgotten) for months).

Maine Sea Coast vegetables has the freshest dulse and other sea vegetables around. They smell like the sea and abound with minerals vital to good health. These products ( dulse in particular ) are great for making wraps and soups. The two ounce packages are very easy to reseal and stay fresh ( if you can keep them for long! ). I buy in bulk because I go through it quickly. And delivery is always within the given time frame.

Iodine is very difficult to work into your diet, especially if you have pulled away from processed salts like Mortan's. If you want to begin working seaweed into your diet, this is the one to begin with because it is mild and not too fishy tasting. The amount I eat is about the size of three or four quarters (the coins), laying side-by-side. I eat it once a day, even though the serving size is larger. After I eat it I drink water or take a bite of something else and the taste is completely gone. It feels really good to be eating something that is so good for me. ~Shelia

This stuff is amazing if you are a vegetarian- even if you aren't! I typically put it in my green smoothies especially during the higher running mileage weeks of the summer. Don't really taste it in a smoothie just adds great flavor. Use it in simmering fresh beans too gives great flavor! The health benefits make any sea vegetable worth trying. Whole Foods was out of this brand last time I went. So I had to try a different sea vegetable. No comparison! Now I'm buying it here! Great brand. If you are a distance runner definitely give it a try! Great for electrolytes. Brendan Brazier - vegan triathlete wrote a book about vegan endurance food, he got me putting it in my smoothies.

My kids love this vegetable dulse. They prefer it to the popular wafers of flavored seaweed that you find in all the stores now that are about a buck a container. This isn't processed much. Chewy, goes good dropped into some hot miso. It seems pricey so I buy it in bulk on Amazon when they have it whole. Usually the flakes are available or what you find in the health food stores. Not so easy to eat a handful of flakes and you can buy them in a convenient shaker can anyway. Great snack.

Yummy and consistently good quality, I've been eating their dulse for twenty years. Sometimes the product is a little more dry or moist than usual and very occasionally there are tiny shells present. Highly recommended!
