If there were NO STARS that's the rating I would give!!, August 17, 2009
I bought this back in December of last year. It was working great! I couldn't smell any odors from the dog or from the kitchen. But within the last 2 months, it stopped working. I was shocked! I thought if I clean out the filters like they suggest, it might solve the problem, but it didn't. After realizing that the unit is in fact not working even the slightest bit, I called the manufacturer, TherapureAir, about the 1 year warranty.
I have seen some bad warranties, but they sure top the list of them! First, they told me to pay to ship the unit back to them, and then they informed me that on top of that, I would have to pay $30 to them, to have a new unit shipped to me. When I asked why I would be paying $30, they stated that I have to cover the "processing fee plus their own shipping and handling."
I was angered and told the guy that if I am shelling out close to $50 for a new unit that might break down again after only 6 months of use, then I mine as well buy a new and different brand unit.
So I thought the money that I would have to shell out for a new unit was bad...but it got worse!
After complaining and telling the guy how it worked great for the first 6 months and then just stopped working, he then confessed that most of their units tend to do that. He said they work 100% for the first few months when you get them, but then afterwards, tend to only work about 40-60%. THIS GUY BASICALLY SAID THEIR UNITS DON'T WORK FOR A LONG TIME AND THAT THEIR PRODUCTS ARE NOT ALL THEY ARE CLAIMING TO BE.
Needless to say, I was outraged and am taking the time to write this review so NO ONE wastes their hard earned money on this piece of junk that the manufacturer even admitted to not working 100% after only a few months.

Best air purifier I've owned so far..., September 18, 2009
I have had nothing but good experiences with this air purifier for both large living areas and bedrooms. Its better than the Holmes products I had previously purchased and had to return do to defective and almost toxic like odors that continuously smelled up the rooms (and no one smokes nor do we have pets). I found this air purifier really cleans the air effectively for those that have allergies or if you just like the scent of a clean room. No air purifier is quiet, but on low you cannot even hear it. I've owned my Therapure for 4 months now and find its worth every penny. I even purchased the smaller one for my child's room and it does an amazing job at keeping the air in his room exceptionally clean. I highly recommend this product for price, efficiency and quality performance.

Quiet, power efficient, but a little weak, August 8, 2009
PROS:
1) very quiet on low, good on medium, and not too bad on high. I have a humidifier and another air purifier and they are much louder at low speed.
2) very power efficient 18W on low, 25W on medium, and 40W on high (Power factor above 0.8).
3) has two fans, on bottom and top.
CONS:
1) Mixed message whether it has ionizer. The box say it does, but the online information and manual don't mention anything about it. I thought this was a good selling point (I want one) and should have been stated in the manual. So, I think it is a false advertisement on the box! I bought this from Walmart, which by the way much cheaper than Amazon for this product.
2) The UV is so small (3w) and only covers the lower fan. I doubt that the air going though the upper fan will see any UV.
3) I only see the HEPA filter, not the "photo catalyst" filter. If it's there it must have been hidden somewhere and very small.
Overall, not impressed. I tried it for a night in my bedroom and don't see any difference (but I had centrl A/C circulating the air). The cons are too much for me to take so this is going back.
