I figured that I would go with this Hornady Scale, seeing that I like the quality of there products. (Bullets) When I received this scale, I was still in the process of getting together other items needed to start my reloading process. I calibrated it and it worked fine. Then after about 4 hours, it would not weigh in, but just skipped all over the place. I went to calibrate it again and it turned off. I put new batteries in it and did the same thing. Ok fine. Here I am hoping to get done all my reloading for the day and the scale stops working. A couple of my buddies told me for the heck of it, to re check the loads with his RCBS scale. GOOD THING I DID!! Most were considerably over the limit. So.. upon a little more searching on line, I discovered that this scale is sold on e bay for 10$, delivered. The same exact scale and complaints on it abound to no end too. In my response from Hornady, I was asked to give them a call about it. What is really bothersome, is that here is a company that is supposed to be tops in products, quality control and they put this garbage in a box with there name on it to sell at triple the cost ?? What exactly are there marketing people thinking of, a quick buck? Like we will not know? I will think twice before buying another Hornady product again, especially when one can get killed instantly without the exact spects on reloading ammo.

I have replaced batteries, made sure it's level, don't breath on it, and turn off florescent lights. Yea, that was a suggestion too. And I spent more than the cost of scale with a calibrated weight set and bought a $100 balance beam scale to test it, cause I want a reliable digital scale. This electronic scale can not weigh the same item twice in a row and get the same weight. I am returning it and looking for another brand. Suggestions?

This scale likes to shut down by itself, usually when I'm sneaking up on a charge. I tried 3 sets of fresh batteries to make sure that wasn't the culprit. If I were Hornady, I'd be ashamed to put my name on it.

I hope this lets me put zero stars because one is too many... By far...
When I buy something brand new, I expect it to work at least one time.
This junk scale couldnt even do that..
I opened the box, opened the battery cover, removed the plastic protector thing
from the battery, replaced the batteries, replaced the cover, put it down,
tried to turn it on... nothing.. took off the cover gave the batteries (that came with it)
a spin and tried again.. nothing.. put a second set of batteries.. nothing..
then a third set.. a few seconds of gibberish, then back to nothing..
Tested the batteries.. put them back.. a few seconds of gibberish, then back to nothing..
Put it back in the box.. came to Amazon, did the return thing, meaning probobly
a couple more weeks before I see another scale (not this brand or model)

So yes... I am displeased... 0 stars.. actually -5 Stars for being a piece of worthless crap
the very first time I saw it.

I returned this item for refund. The scale readout wouldnt stop changing values while measuring. When I bought this I thought I should buy a back up scale so I ordered the American Weigh AWS-100 Precision Pocket Scale 100 x 0.01g for 13 bucks...it turned out to be the exact same scale as the Hornady just different logo's and it works well.

When it comes to reloading the scale is probably the most important part. This scale is absolutely junk, and very dangerous to say the least. It never stays zeroed out. So say you weigh a charge out at 6 grains, well after I load up about 10 rounds I'll go back to check the first one I loaded, and it will be off by by .2 all the way up to .6. Very dangerous when loading pistol rounds close to max loads...

I recently got into reloading and obviously needed a scale. I looked at several models and this one seemed the best. Very simple and easy to use. I'm not sure if the cheaper ones would be as good. I often find you get what you pay for. As for accuracy in "trickling" powder... I just make a *very* light tap on the scale to adjust it.
Over all, a great scale for the price. If you're into mega-reloading, better get the expensive units to do mass loads for that purpose. If you're just reloading a few dozen cartridges for your hunting rifle, can't beat this little scale.

Worked well for a few months, and was much more convenient than the mechanical balance scale I was using for reloading. Last night, it decided to start multiplying all its readings by a factor of 2 or 3. I put new batteries in, did the calibration process. No improvement. Even at its low price, it should have provided longer service than it did, and the nature of its failure could result in some real problems if it was being used for reloading ammo and the failure wasn't noticed.
