This used to be my favorite tea to drink, and my favorite by a substantial margin. However, the formulation has changed, the tea does not have its once-stellar flavors, and so I cannot recommend the 'new' White Ayurvedic at its current price.

Teavana isn't known for the cheapest teas in the world, and whether you love or hate their sales practices, they generally have good-quality products. White Ayurvedic Chai has been one of their most popular blends for years, and it is arguably a tea that has become associated with the company. It's always been an expensive tea, but I've had zero issues with the pricing because it used excellent ingredients (and expensive spices) that yielded a heavenly flavor.

The flavor of the original formulation was incredible. The cinnamon, ginger, clove, coconut, and red peppercorns all worked in sync to leave one with a cup of tea that was hard not to love. For a while, they sold White Ayurvedic in combination with Samurai Chai Mate...in addition to increasing the caffeine, it intensified the spices classically associated with good chai tea, giving the tea an even greater aroma and a greater body. The sweet & spicy flavor went good whether hot or cold, and whether you drank it straight or added something to make it sweeter.

I do not know the exact date that this tea changed, but I have been drinking the White Ayurvedic for some time and liked it so much I was buying it in the ballpark of a few pounds at a time (in-store) to get the quantity discount. About 8 months ago when I ran out of what I had, I purchased it again at the same store I had been buying from for some time. What I got was not like that of previous batches. I normally get this tea at Teavana stores in the mall or their website, so was excited to see it on Amazon (as I have tons of gift cards here). It seemed to take a little longer then other products to arrive but came in great shape and came with a free sample just like my other orders from the Teavana site have (which makes sense since they're partnered with Amazon). I drink the White Ayurvedic Chai with the Samurai Chai Mate and they taste fantastic together. They're supposed to be full of caffeine but for me they're my anytime tea. I have to steep a little longer then recommended time as I like my tea strong (with a bit of sugar or honey :) but it tastes great. Not to sickly sweet like some fruity teas.
It is sweeter then some of their other teas, so if you don't like sweet then you may want to try out some of their others. I recommend going into the stores and sampling their array of teas they usually have set out to find your favorite. The blend they normally have of this one is good but not always what comes out at home though so don't just go by that one. They use German rock sugar (which they sell) and that costs a little more. Most people will use normal table sugar, honey, or artificial sweetener which will affect the tastes. Anyway, go try the tea, find your tea and drink happy.

This is a sweet tasting and delicious tea. It has dried fruit and seems to have some sugar. If it does have sugar, it is not calorie free. It is very tasty and makes a good iced tea also.

I've never had a white tea before and gambled on this one as it covered most of my preferred flavors and won huge. This is an awesome tea. The first brew filled up the house with its scent...a mixture of chai and coconut/pineapple; fruit and spice. Finished smooth with a slight cinnamon taste of the tongue. Took a to-go cup and it smelled up the car.

White(tea) is one of my personal favorites and this is a lovely blend I am using to make it through the winter, as it is loaded with anti-oxidants, and just enough caffeine to make it fun to drink in the morning.If brewed too long, this will be slightly bitter, so five minutes is perfect for this. This is a fantastic tasting product, spicy with just a touch of heat which is just how I like it. I'd love to drink it several times a day, unfortunately it's so expensive. It has all of the beneficial ingredients I'm looking for in a Chai tea. To me it tastes best with a little sweetened milk. I make it with the Teavana Perfect Tea Maker which is so easy to use with this type of loose tea. I would have given it five stars for the taste but I have a problem with the price. I bought the 2 oz bag the first time and used it all within five days. I'm going to order the 8 oz one this time and pace myself.
