I swapped out the pickguard on my American Standard to a black one so I figured I'd change the back plate as well. While nobody really sees the back, it drives me nuts when the front and back don't match. Because I didn't want to go without a back plate, as some people like to do, I picked this one up. The holes lined up perfectly and it literally takes less than a minute to install. You can't go wrong with genuine Fender parts.

This back plate doesn't fit on Squier Stratocaster guitars. I assume it fits on the Fender model, but I don't have one to test it out. I can't seem to find a back plate specifically for Squier anywhere online (Guitar Center here I come). You can make it stay on with two screws though, which is what I'm doing until I get one that actually fits. This doesn't come with screws by the way.

As for the quality of the backplate, it seems fine, but it isn't quite solid black as shown in the picture. There's white throughout it, if you look close enough. Not a big deal at all though.

Hope this review helps someone avoid my same mistake.

I got this to replace a plain white one that came standard on my MIM Strat. The guitar has a four ply tortise pickguard and this four ply trem spring/block cover is a perfect match. Lined up perfect with the existing screw holes on the guitar. I have seen reference to both a brown and a red tortise shell color and I would call this one red if I had to pick one or the other. I have never seen one that I would call brown, so maybe they use those two terms interchanagably. But from what I have seen, this would match up with the Fender tortise shell pickguard nicely.

Got this to match the pickguard on a 2003 Fender Stratocaster Special Edition (MIM) which originally came with an aged white pearloid pickguard, but had a plain white back plate. I did not really expect an exact match to a twelve year old pickguard, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was, in fact, an exceptionally close match. The aged white pearloid looks great on a black body. Thicker and sturdier feeling than the stock MIM white rear plate. Shipping was fast too.

This was an authentic piece from Fender and fit perfectly. Not easy finding a tortise-shell pickguard at Guitar Center, let
alone the matching piece for the back...had to buy both separately on line. Be aware that the pickguard and this back piece
have a very thin protective plastic cover on them. So if they look previously used out of the box, it's the plastic film you see.

At $20 this is expensive for what it is, considering I bought the entire aged white pickguard for $40. But I won't review the product based on price since that really varies

ANYWAYS, it's very sturdy and I think it looks great. I put this on my olympic white strat and it matches very well. I bought the off white accessory kit to go along with this, and it matches the olympic white and this aged pearl look perfectly. The back plate that came with that accessory kit, the official Fender one, is very flimsy and low quality, so I'm glad I purchased this one.

yes, this is a fender packaged plate...arrived in good condition and on time...nice and thick with white in the middle...does not line with existing holes but will drill new ones...no screws with it...so use your old ones or order new...enjoy!!
