This lead is amazing. The 4B is like writing with butter on a hot pan. Its very dark being that its a 4B. Point retention is horrible, but its 4B lead, so this is forgiven. Overall an amazing lead that is definitely worth every penny.

Very happy with the lead itself. The "B" I ordered goes on the page much more smoothly than the HB from Staedtler. It's so good that I'm going to order the 4B as well. I'm deducting one star because *every* led in the package was broken in the middle. There's no point in returning it, but it's annoying and does increase waste a little bit. Hopefully my experience was a one-off and doesn't speak to a general issue with Amazon's supply of this product.

My order came in a bubble wrap mailer and not the book box that the other reviewer complained about. I'd blame the mailer for the broken lead, except that the holder seems plenty sturdy to prevent this.

As you can see, the box with which this came in was quite cheap, and literally had holes at either end which allowed for a set of these leads to disappear in transport. Great lead, but awful box, the box should at least be sealed, especially with such a thin item.

Dark. Rich. Smooth. I freaking love this lead! I initially purchased it for use in engineering drawings, but it is a bit too soft and rich for the vellums I am using. Although it is not right for that utilization, this lead is really, really nice. It is very smooth and appears very rich on the paper. I have a lot of experience using leads from Staedtler, but this lead definitely can make the hang. I will be using it for art sketching and will be trying more leads from Uni, probably going further into the softer grades. So rich and smooth.

The product arrived rapidly and all in one piece. I was relieved that I chose the right size. The lead wasn't as dark as I had hoped, but it's darker than the lead that I already had. Works fine though.
