We had to guess at the size when ordering, because it is a little confusing. We bought this for our 3 month old lab-mix puppy. I just read other reviews and thought "Well, if size 1 fits such and such a dog, my dog is about that size right now". It fits like a dream, and still has room to adjust as he grows a bit more. (We hope he grows out of the biting before he grows out of the muzzle.) He can not get the muzzle off. We even used the same muzzle on my sister's year-old Jack Russell terrier during a puppy play-date, and despite his extreme measures, he was not able to budge the muzzle. Our dog can still stick out his tongue and grab some sips of water or a tiny bite of kibble, but his biting is completely halted. The first few times we had to use this, our puppy threw a fit and tried to remove the muzzle. Now when we bring it out, he instantly pouts and goes to take a nap. This is working very well for us in training our puppy that it's not OK to bite our daughter on the legs.

Purchased for barking border collie. It fit perfectly, but he hated it and tried to remove it with his paws. He could manage to get it off within minutes, however, the barking stopped. He quiets down when he sees the muzzle-no need to even put it on.

Unfortunately even though I measured my dogs snout according to the directions, which are not on Amazon, I went to another website to find, the part that fits around the snout was too big. You want room for your dog to be able to breath , but there was enough room for him to pretty much open his mouth and bite, which is exactly what I didn't want him to be able to do. It is soft and comfortable material and it is adjustable around the head, but that still didn't help how big it was around the snout. Maybe one size down would've been better. I don't know. I ordered another similar one on Amazon, with a mesh bottom , making it more breathable for the summer heat, and that one fit him perfect as it had more adjustments.

This one is good for dogs that bark a lot. We recently moved to Florida, and were in corporate housing for two months ->Corporate housing being a pet-friendly Residence Inn. Our older dog Ginger, who is thirteen has recently developed a severe case of separation anxiety and would bark and whine non-stop when we had to leave the rooms, which was quite often.

This muzzle worked well enough to keep the louder barking at bay although she was still able to get *some* noises out, it was nowhere near what it was before we got this. Another good aspect of this one is that as tight as the fit is, she was still able to drink from her water bowl.

The con side of this one is that we think it may not be suitable for dogs with biting problems as the clasp in the back is somewhat fragile, and if used on an overly aggressive dog it appears that it would be quite easy for doggie to break that thing open.

Five stars for our experience.

This is working great. I have a black lab mix that is a little aggressive, especially around other dogs. He weighs 88 pounds and can be a handful when meeting others walking their pets in the neighborhood. I bought this as "insurance", in case he gets away from the leash. The muzzle actually has reduced his pulling on the leash all the time and has made the walks much nicer for me. I am glad I got the x-large. They don't tell you much about how to measure for the fit when you are buying. After reading other reviews, I measured the full length of his "smile". It works great. He tried to pull it off with his paws during the first walk. But he does not seem to mind at all since that first trip.

This muzzle fits well and is soft, but I didn't see any lining. However the seams are all covered. It works well, though. My dog doesn't have to spend any amount of time wearing it, just a few minutes at a time for manicure work.

My dog hates it. I love it. She likes to chew when we aren't looking. This way she can wander and sleep. We don't have to crate her just because we step outside or step into another room. Better than crating her. She has since calmed down, and outgrown her chewing habit. Maybe she learned she doesn't need to chew all day. That's what her treats are for. Don't put it on wrong.
