My work truck is a 2005 Ford F-150 and my fan was only working on the highest setting, which is 4 and extremely loud. My co-worker has a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty, so I also ordered one for his truck. If you own a Ford vehicle from the 2004-2008 model years (I am sure others too), you might as well order one of these because it is a very common problem. Of 9 Ford trucks at my work, 5 of them already had this same issue. My mom's Escape and dad's Ranger, both 2008 models, both also had this problem.

On my truck (2005 F-150), it is simple. The glove box has a rubber stop on the right side, press it in and drop the glove box down. You will see two 8mm screws on a black plug. Undo the plug by pressing the tab and pull the wire off, then take out the screws. It was easy on my truck. Take out the old part, replace with the new one, and reverse your steps. Presto-your blower motor works on all speeds again. Do not let the dealership trick you into buying a new blower motor you do not need!

On my co-workers 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty, it was the same process but a lot more difficult. On those trucks, there is two grey-connector wire sets you have to disconnect and get out of the way. It helps to have a longer ended socket wrench and you have to lay on the seat with your head facing the drivers side. The part is more on an angle thanks to the air-box, so it takes a little longer to do but still a simple matter.

5 minutes on my truck and about 20 on the Super Duty and both blowers working on all speeds. I unfortunately brought a short handled socket wrench for both, I recommend a longer-handled wrench to make life easier.

5 minutes and an 8mm socket wrench is all it took to replace on my 2004 f150. Gave me the 1 and 2 fan speeds back to my a/c. Couldn't be happier. Also 30% cheaper than dealer and I didn't have to go anywhere.

About half the dealer price and was exactly a 11 minute instal and that included loosing the socket behind the heater box and fishing it out with a magnet. If you have not done it before, GOOGLE it and your all set. 1/4" Ratchet and a 8mm deep well socket and your good to go...

Works perfectly!!!! If you have an AC fan on a ford that suddenly looses one or more fan speeds. It isn't the motor, the switch. It is more than likely this particular part right here. My wife's 2008 Ford Expedition lost the low fan speed one day. Then all the sudden the med/low setting quit as well. Well ya can't drive around with med/high and high fan on all the time. So I did some research. I found this little piece that controls the fan speed. It is located behind the glove box. With a little finesse it can be changed out in about 10 min. The repair required just simple tools. A phillips head screw driver and I think a 9 or 10mm socket and small ratchet. Just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. Cheap easy fix. I'm sure the dealer would have charged 100s for this repair.

My 2009 F150 Supercrew XLT 4x4 heater/ac fan would not work on setting 1 but worked on 2/3/4. Ordered this replacement and it took 10 mins to install. All you do is open the glove box, squeeze/bend the edge in on both sides so it falls opens all the way down. Undo 2 8mm screws and the cable plug. Insert the replacement with the screws, connect the cable plug and shut the glovebox. All better now and saved hundreds by not going to the dealer for this item. Do not hesitate to buy this and replace yours if you are having problems with the heat/ac fan inside the cab.

You can't beat the price on this Ford part. I have two escapes and within a few months both had the same problem with the heater fan. I purchased two of these - they both work great and the price is excellent. I bought two of these for less than the price of one at Ford (and it appears to be the same product!

The part was fairly easy to get to but I had to go buy a 3/16" socket for my 1/4" ratchet to remove the 2 screws on top. A screwdriver will not work. Also, the only other issue is that the part fits over two pins that are part of the blower housing and these two holes were not completely drilled out on the replacement part that I received. Once I figured that out, it took me 30 seconds to drill out the 2 holes on the bracket and it fit perfectly.

I now have settings 1-3 back for my heat and AC on my 2010 Ford Escape - Standard model. My boyfriend who is not a mechanic but is handy was able to install it with in just a few hours and I have been using it in Michigan the last few weeks with no problems.
