Sometimes I am holding onto something heavy or clumsy and am not in a position to let my tailgate down gently (Dodge Ram Cummins). This is the answer for you if you sometimes face the same situation. Another plus is this company (lifts supports depot) has excellent customer service. Don't overtighten the special bolt and nut on the tailgate end, but if you do and break it like me (duh) they will gladly send you out a replacement no charge!

I spray painted the screw sites on the new one with rust proof paint before installation and I couldn't be happier. I don't understand how these don't come stock on all trucks. Get it!!! You will never know what you did before it. No more dropping the tailgate and cursing.

I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. I searched the net for an EZ down that will fit my model year. All other sites said 2002-2008. Even the EZdown.com does not have one for 2010 model... Amazon is the only one that says 2002-2011. I was thinking the heck with it, it is only $39 and I will give it a shot. (By the way, Amazon has THE cheapest price around.) Well it fits my truck. I needed to use my Dremel tool to grind down the provided tailgate bolt a little bit to fit the hole, then it worked perfectly. Now I actually enjoy opening the tailgate. One finger operation.

Great product. Very easy to install. Really helps with heavy tailgates. My ram 3500 tailgate is sooo heavy when you lower it the gate slams down and then raising it is a real chore. Not anymore, this is a must have product in my opinion.

Nice piece, easy to install with good instructions. Had to radius the top of the rounded corners of the stud that fits into the tailgate so it matched the radius of the pocket it bottoms out in. Once I did, it fit flat in the pocket and the end sticking out was perpendicular to the side of the tailgate. This also made it so the shock eye was 90 degrees to the stud with no binding and wear from point contact. Probably would have worked as made but just wasn't right. This does not help lift the tailgate. The down speed is a little slow, you have to wait a few seconds for the tailgate to completely open. Not a big deal but thought I'd mention it. It's winter and it will be interesting to see if it speeds up in the summer. I gave it 5 stars. Everyone that's seen mine wants one.

I bought this for my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT. Have had it for about a month now with no problems, installing was simple and needed no alterations to the tailgate or the product itself for the fit. I couldn't find any other tailgate damper as inexpensive as this one and from what I've seen, it's worth buying, you get simple one finger operation as said by the last guy, and it works great. This is exactly what I was looking for and it's also what you are looking for.
