This micrometer insert is very useful for experimenting the powder load. It allows you quickly get the amount of grains you want. Very cleave idea and a clean solution to the needs of multiple powder settings.

I would give it a 5-star rating if it doesn't have the following problem: The stem behind the hex nut (in the middle of the insert) is smaller than the one in the original insert. This makes the micro meter insert cannot be snugly fitted to the frame of thee powder measure. When you rotate the scale bar, the whole insert can rotate as well. This is quite annoying when you need accurate measurement.

Although I can wrap a few layer of Teflon on the thick cylinder in the front of the hex nut to secure it, I think Hornady should solve it by make the stem a little larger so that it can be tightly locked inside.

The other problem is that the highly reflected metal surface makes the marks cannot be read under a lamp.

One of the tedious set ups in reloading is getting the powder throw dialed in each time. With this, I just make note of the setting in my reloading notebook and I can be right back on in moments. So worth the cost in time and aggravation savings!

Similar to the comments provided for the Rifle Metering Insert, I believe this is more useful if you reload a number of different cartridges. Will be useful in setting up the different powder charges. Probably not quite as useful if you only reload one cartridge.

This has greatly improved my speed-to-production and the overall precision for weighing out my powder drops. Speed-to-production refers to the time it takes to dial in the powder drop to the amount I want, and begin using my progressive reloader. After my initial measuring the drop weight for a given power I record the number that's displayed on the micrometer. Using this value the next time, I'm already 95% to my desired amount each and every time I reload with that powder. Fast! Less screwing around and more time making ammunition. While this isn't a necessary item, I've found that this is a very nice upgrade to have on your powder drop. Good luck and stay safe!

Great addition to my reloading bench. Makes changing from one charge to another very easy. With this I am able to dial in my charge each time and get it right on without a bunch of adjustments. Wish I had it from the beginning. The tick marks are easy to read, not sure why others say they are not. An indispensable tool for reloading.

So the one common downside to this is the difficulty in reading the measurements.. I'm thinking about trying a black paint wash to bring them out a little. For me, having extra light helped. I like it for keeping logs of cartridge recipes. Just note the setting as a reference point. Makes caliber change over a little easier. A little cheaper than separate rotors for each caliber.. also cuts down on the number of rotors that you have to maintain. Smoother threads than the standard insert.

I use this for my Hornady LnL powder measure. It's easier to fine tune charges with a micrometer especially with fine ball powder. Installation wasn't as easy as I thought it would be though. It kept getting stuck in a position where I couldn't turn the micrometer, but after I got it working, it's been great.

Very nice. I think Hornady products are good but they are masters at add on costs. If you choose Hornady products expect to pay some money. However this product is very nice. It is hard to see numbers.
