Purchased this tripod for a gift to my father-in-law. He is a big game hunter (Wyoming, Montana, Africa) so I wanted to make sure the product would hold up to the abuse.
The product is packaged in a black bag that looks like Cordura Nylon but it is not as sturdy, the bag might not last for years but it is a nice touch. I was purchasing a tripod, not a black bag so I could care less if it didn't even have one.
The tripod is secured together with a semi-permanent velco strap, again a nice touch to keep it folded up. Some people mentioned it is "heavy" but I would say it feels just about right for the size, any lighter and it would not feel as sturdy.
The top swivel piece is SOLID, but yet it rotates 360-degrees. There is NO wobble in it at all, very impressed.
Each leg extends very smoothly, with gradient markings along with numbers on each leg, again very nice touch. Also, if you are 7-foot tall, this thing can go that high!
One aspect I really appreciate about the tripod is when extending the legs out they seem to "stick" just a bit, but that is NOT the case. The seal between the small section inside the larger sections (telescoping) is tight (GOOD QUALITY) so it creates a bit of a suction effect extending the legs. They extend easily, but don't just drop down like a cheaply made tripod would.
Also, the black coating looks rugged, foam grips are a nice touch...although not needed. If you are looking at the "other" tripods with the red grips, when are you even holding the tripod?? I'd rather be holding my gun.
This tripod is an excellent value for the price, I would not spend any more on a different model, this one has everything you need in the field. I honestly don't know what the other tripods would have to offer except "bling" and red grips.

Just after I bought this my buddy bought the name brand. When we went afield the only difference I could see is mine does not have the name brand on the carry bag and the foam pads on the legs are black instead of red. However, this was just as sturdy, came with an extra V yoke and was $30 cheaper. Great value.

I love this tripod. I've gone through a few of the $20 shooting sticks and decided to give this a try. Thanks to all who have reviewed this because it made buying this an easier decision. Like another reviewer mentioned I'd also like it to be shorter/less wide in the lower positions. However, if you're going to do any shooting while walking around this is awesome. It's very easy to get set quickly and the pivot V makes it simple to adjust left/right without setting up again. I find it best to hold your hand through the two closer legs while gripping the far leg when walking to keep the profile thin and then spread to the shooting height when you're ready to shoot. Doing that will make it easy to walk though the woods or rows of trees and still get set quickly.

tripod is very well built. sturdy. i am a disabled hunter. having to hunt from my vehicle can pose unseen problems. rifle steadiness was a concern. these shooting sticks more than met my wants and needs. easy to adjust, comfortable to use. overall, a quality built tripod at an affordable price. 5 *****

This tripod is sturdy, well built and works great for tall or short people. My sons and I go out shooting frequently. For steadying a shot and sighting in a scoop this is a valuable tool. It was a good price and is a quality product. So far it works great.

I highly recommend this product to steady your shot. Its sturdy, easy to set up, gets the job done and its not expensive. Only minor issue might be carrying it while walking so I attached it to my back pack - problem resolved.

I received my tripod within 3 to 4 days of ordering, and couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the product. Though I haven't had a chance to use it, it seems to be as advertised, and compared to other tripods, the price is terrific. It functons smoothly and can be used comfortably in any position from sitting to standing. It is sturdy and light. Though it doesn't take a mental giant to figure out how the extendable legs function, a simple set of instructions, do's or don'ts, and/or tips for use would be nice. It came with nothing at all in the form of instruction or info. Not a big deal considering the price and quality.
