I've been a professional video/TV producer most of my life. I still shoot a lot of mini DV format for webcasting - You Tube etc. I've experimented with other brands, but I've found Sony to be the most dependable, with the least amount of dropouts and other issues, over a period of 10 or 15 years of regularly using the format.

So this recent purchase I made of 20 cassettes at a great price gets 5 stars from me. I'll be buying from this supplier again! To check out professional footage on Sony mini DV in my home studio, search "timothy james dean channel" on u tube. The quality is excellent!

First, I love Amazon and the Tapes arrived in a very timely manner. I have ordered these tapes before and although they are "Premium", out of the 5-shows that I recorded last weekend, the last one did not work. The tape showed that 45: minutes were filmed but, there was nothing there. Of course, I put one of the other tapes back in to make sure that the camera was still working and, there was no problem. But, there was nothing on that last tape :(
I'm sure these things happen and, I just ordered another 10 pack because there is usually no problem with these. I guess, as with all technology, "Glitch Happens".

Nothing special to report on here! They do what intended to do. Yes I would buy again. I use this on my Panasonic DVX100B and these are the tapes I have always used. I only record once on these as recording over seems to give way to dirt or distortion.

Sony "DVC-60" are a great value for high quality mini-DV. We shoot a lot of video for both our business (instructional videos) and personal use.

We have fairly high end equipment (Canon GL2 MiniDV Digital Camcorder w/20x Optical Zoom) and did not want to take a chance with switching brands (which can cause problems over time) or hunting the lowest prices. We selected Sony early on and have never been disappointed.

Recommended for quality and pricing!

For some reason all of these tapes are two minutes shorter than the ones I normally receive when I order Sony DVM's.. Normally tapes will read 60 minutes on the time code in a camera but actually have a little extra time left over so you'll get about 61 or 62 minutes. This wouldn't generally be a problem, but I'm taping a one hour segment and I can't guarantee that the tape will last an hour if it says 58 minutes on the time code so I'm kind of stuck. I don't know if the manufacturer is trying to save money but cutting off two minutes of tape, but for my purposes it's created a problem.

We still use SONY PV-150's and PV-170's in our high school TV Production program (analog). The average record time is around 42 to 44 minutes per tape, not 60 minutes. But the quality of the recording is superb! I highly recommend this video tape. I have used it in our high school TV Production program for the past six (6) years, and I have never had any issues with these tapes. You can normally record over them (reuse them) two or three times.

Have been using these tapes for years and love them. Recently just upgraded to the professional sony minidv tape but have not seen a great difference between the two. Would suggest when recording to MiniDV tapes, always use the SP recording mode vs. the EP recording mode. The SP mode has always given me less video artifacting within the picture. IMHO

After Costco and Sam's Club quit carrying these, it was a choice of paying exorbitantly for single tapes at local retailers or retiring my video cam. Thankfully, Amazon still carries these at prices half or less than I can get them elsewhere in Hawaii. As far as the quality of the tapes, I've never had a problem after using 18 cassettes. Prime membership was also a bonus for shipping.
