I bought this last year and was so excited when I saw it.
Unfortunately, it barely lasted one week before it started
falling apart. It's really cute, but the workmanship is
terrible. The sisal (string) is not glued well and has
pulled away from the wood and the round stand is very loose.
In general it's a mess.
One of my cats loves this item, so I keep it for her.
I never bothered advising the seller as I was too busy
and didn't want to pack and ship anything out after the
holidays. One star for a nice idea.

The stated dimensions are misleading ... they must represent the total length when it's hanging up ... the actual scratching board is 14 inches long, not 17 inches. Big difference when you're using it on the floor and you have a big cat. The material itself is seamed right down the middle of the scratching side, not the back side ... not a well-thought-out design. My cat unraveled a thread of material from the seam within a day. Otherwise a good product, though given where the seam is, I doubt it will last as long as it might have otherwise. In the future I'll stick with the Felix Katnip Tree Company ... their products are sturdy and last a LONG time.

Ten months after purchasing this item for my cat a new puppy in our home got hold of the mouse. We let her have it thinking it couldn't hurt her. She managed to open up the cover. We started finding corroded button batteries around the house. When the third one showed up, we went looking for the source and discovered it was the mouse. Inside was another battery and a few tiny transistors. I believe someone is using this item to improperly (illegally?) dispose of these items. In light of the above, it seems trite to mention that the scratch pad hasn't held up very well.
