Easy to install in my fiberglass boat (once I obtained a 1 7/8 inch hole saw!), this receptacle makes plugging in my on-board battery charger extremely easy. It IS plastic, so be careful when installing it, but I had no trouble with breakage (as reported in at least one other review I've seen). Everything fitted together easily. I am perfectly happy with this purchase.

The reviews indicating the poor construction/design are accurate, once the small pin designed to clamp the male end of the cord breaks it becomes useless. Mine lasted barely 2 years. Minn Kota needs to change this design. I'm replacing with a Marinco hard wired plug which is the same as my original plug and it is still working 7 years later.

Really simplifies charging my trolling motor batteries. The hole size is a bit unique, so I had to drill one a bit smaller and enlarge it with a file / rasp. (that is the reason for 4 versus 5 stars). The inboard end easily accommodates almost any power supply plug.

I am ordering another one of these today. The one I've had installed on my boat only lasted two seasons. When I went to plug in today, the plug was broken and the cord dropped into the hull. Not a really good design for the stress of plugging in and out.

I recently switched from a Guest charger to a Minn Kota. Since the Guest/Marinco power port was made to work only with the Guest plug, I was forced to buy an MK power port as well.

Just as another reviewer of this same product (only in black), reported the little plastic tab that holds the plug in place inside the inlet broke the very first time I plugged the extension cord into it. It's just not beefy enough to take the pressure it was designed to take. I was able to "re-engineer" the plug by wrapping black electrical tape around the plug to make it big enough to be held tightly by the inlet when it was screwed together. A cheesy fix, but I saw no alternative as it was obvious that a replacement would have the same flaw.

MK should study the Guest/Marinco power port and charger plug system. First of all, the Guest plug is designed to clip into the inlet with no stress points to break. It's an integrated system. Another problem with the MK inlet is the fact that is is mounted to the boat with two small screws on either side to the larger plug hole. This requires three small holes to be drilled in the fiberglass right next to the larger hole which practically guarantees chipping of the gel coat. On the other hand, the Guest inlet is mounted with a large nut that goes on the back side and therefore secures the inlet firmly without the need to drill the three small hole for screws.

I love my Minn Kota 3 bank charger but if I had examined the power port that I would have to use I might have thought twice about the whole thing. I give it 2 stars simply because I was able to make the thing work. Had my black tape fix not have worked I would have been stuck with one large and three small holes surrounded by chipped gel coat.

I bought and installed a 3-bank Minn Kota inboard charger last Spring for my bay boat. I just purchased this MKR-23, and carefully drilled a 1-7/8" hole in the side of my console. The FIRST time I plugged in the extension cord, the little plastic tab that is supposed to hold the Minn Kota plug in place broke, forcing the plug back in the housing, rendering this thing useless. Think hard before you decide to drill big holes in your fiberglass.

My boat interior is white fiberglass so I was glad to find this white power port, the Minn-Kota website only shows the black (odd). This port allows me to plug an extension cord into the on-board battery charger without having to open up the engine compartment. Being white it blends right in & has a water-resistant cover too.

Same as other reviewers have indicated- Broke after only three uses. Concept is good but design is inherently weak. Hoping I can find more suitable replacement which will fit hole.
