Wish there was an unsweetened version. Both this and the regular one make me gag it is so sweet. I bought a straight eldeberry extract from amazon that I liked much better. It had a very nice flavor and was not sickeningly sweet. I tried both the Sambucol sugar free and regular but didn't like either. My assumption is that I will get the same benefit from the elederberry extract that is just that, not sweetners. I did make it through a room full of sick people at work for weeks of exposure-so not sure if this works or I'm just lucky this year but usually I get sick around new years each year and this year I did not despite being surrounded by sickies. Cheap insurance I think.

I am so glad to find a sugar free version of black elderberry syrup sweetened with stevia versus sugar alcohols (which I cannot tolerate). It is only 3 grams of carbohydrates per serving. It has been very effective in keeping me well during past winters and helps to speed recovery from viruses when they do strike.

I give my 2 year old elderberry every day to keep him from getting sick. I was searching for a sugar free alternative to our previous syrup had almost 1tsp of sugar for every 1 tsp of syrup. I was concerned that my son may not take this syrup because of taste but he readily accepts it. This syrup also uses safe sweeteners, stevia & glycerine, that are not currently known to have adverse health effects. I didn't give this 5 stars only because of the price. It is a bit expensive for only 4oz. Overall a great product that I will order again.

Fantastic product for those concerned that the original formula has too much sugar, especially since one has to take several doses during a 24 hour period. BUT, it would be better if pure Stevia is used as a sweetener, rather than Reb-A. From what I understand, Reb-A is a highly processed form of Stevia, and is made using genetically modified (GMO) ingredients and other chemicals. I hope that the manufacturer of this product changes the formula to a PURE Stevia sweetener in the future.
