These are some really great Iron pills! Allow me to tell you why.... In early 2013, I was having issues with my hair thining and finally I told my primary care doctor to send me to an endocrinologist to be tested since she couldn't really give me reasonable answers to my issue. After getting a full panel of blood work done and having it indicate that I almost had no iron in my body, I spoke to my brother (who is a health enthusiast) and he told me to look into the issue of thinning hair and low iron in women. Low and behold, I found a lot of information about women's thinning hair issues and having low iron with and without anemia. On my follow appt to have my test results interpreted by endocrinologist, I was armed with my research and she too confirmed that having such low iron could be contributing to my issue so she prescribed me 325mg of ferrous sulfate (which equals 130mg of elemental iron).

This dosage is 600% more than the daily recommended iron dose for women! Yes, my iron was that low... As i looked back over previous blood test from my annual physical exams, apparently it had been like that for years. But because my ferritin level was at the very bottom end of the very wide range of what is considered normal, my primary care Dr didn't bother to mention any concern for the issue. This is why, to some degree, I've learned the hard way that you really have to take your healthcare in your own hands. Anyhow, after just taking the prescription drugs for 2 or 3 days, my stomach was in so much pain that I had to leave work a few times. The prescription drugs also causes you to be very constipated and after having regular bowel movements several times a day, I don't do constipation well at all.Read more ›

After I showed to my hematologist and gastroligist they started referring it to other patients in lieu of iron pills and repeated iron infusions, they like the fact it breaks down in the GI tract and not the stomach like pills.I like the concentration, with NO constipation!!! and the strawberry flavor. I MUST take it 40 ml, 4-6 times a week. The part I like the most is able to wake up, take it on an empty stomach. After I take my dogs out, go lay back down and then when it's time to get up an hour later, go on with my day, drink coffee, tea what ever, no muss no fuss, it even has a measuring cap. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I will probably be on it the rest of my life. BUT I and others like me DO NOT have sit in a chair with a needle in my arm for 3 hours getting 100 mil of iron a month, every month PS To document this my doctors at Emory University (ATL Ga) did multiple CBC tests with ferritin to document the results and like I said they now refer it to other patients, they were impressed.since I have been taking it my ferritin level has stayed constant and so has my hemoglobin so I have NOT had to have an iron infusion. Thank you for a wonderful product.

Finally went to the doctor for persistent exhaustion and discovered I was anemic with incredibly low ferritin (3.5, when 15-200 is normal). So, I started taking these supplements due to the high level of elemental iron in ferrous fumarate (108 mg per 325 mg tablet, as compared with ferrous sulfate which contains only 65 mg). I took three tablets a day and had absolutely no side effects. After three months, I had my iron retested and found that it had climbed to 13, almost within the normal range. Another three months later, still taking three per day (and still no side effects), and I'm at 27. Even better... I'm no longer tired all the time. Thanks, Ferretts!

My doctor instructed me to take ferrous fumerate along with vitamin C to correct iron imbalance. I am a 70 year old male. No local drug chains have it in my area, all stock ferrous sulfate. Searched internet to find it listed by the manufacturer and Amazon. Amazon only required purchase of two bottles to get free shipping while mfr. required min of three bottles. I have not had test since started taking (about a month ago) but it seems to me my legs have less pain from extended walking now. This type of iron when taken with vitamin C is supposed to be absorbed more readily and works to help carry oxygen to muscle cells. I have had no side effects and will write another review after next test.
