It's heavy and stable -- important in a coat rack. It was easy to assemble. It was more expensive than I think it needed to be, but considering the prices charged for similar items, it's probably not UNUSUALLY expensive. This coat rack held several heavy winter coats at a time with no problems, so... I'm pleased with it.

Received it today (1/12/08) I had some immediate doubts as I unpacked it, but I have decided to keep it and it does look nice in my entry. Assembly is not difficult. 1 screw for each of the 4 coat hook brackets, tightened easily with the provided allen wrench. The design is less precise than I would expect. There is a pin that fits in one hole and then the single screw. Two screws would be better and stop the slight wobble, even after over tightening. It is not wrought iron, but tube with a wrought iron finish. Still the base is fairly heavy and the unit is stable. The top assembly is two poles that screw together and then down over a double ended all-thread. Be sure to get the thread all the way in to the bottom before putting on the top or again you get some lean and some wobble. I also had to sand off two of the rubber pads a little to get it to sit level on the floor (the floor is level). A little more work on my part than I would have liked, but I still think it was an ok buy and looks nicer than the price.

The stand is sturdy and looks of good quality. It was very easy to put together but you have to tighten the screws a lot or the structure will be wobbly. Definitey recommend.

Starting with my gripe: as a previous reviewer has stated, the arms loosen ans swing around a bit. I have a family of five, and we use every hook but one. With seven coats hanging, each time you place or remove a coat, the arm tips to the side with more weight. I tightened the single screw as far as machine screws should be tightened (read: until the philips almost stripped) and still, after a single week of winter coats, she's a tipper. I wish each set of hooks had their own pair of fasteners, rather than the single one. It just creates a pivot point.

I like the quality of the rest of the unit, as it is a fairly attractive piece.
