I just put this in my HP 8730W Mobile Workstation. I use SolidWorks and really have a need for this to work well without any problems. It is as advertised.There is a misprint on the label, where it says PC2-5300. If you look at the Part number you can see that it is really DDR2-800, PC2-6400 RAM. The label on the dimms themselves also confirm this. The reviews on Newegg also talk about the mislabeling.

I swapped out my 2 2GB Dimms for these 2 4GB dimms and everything works as it should. The BIOS also reports that it is DDR2-800. I have run it through the HP Memory Test diagnostics and it passes.

If you want 8GB of DDR2-800 SODIMM and your notebook can support it and you have a 64 bit operating system, this is the one to get.

This is a review for the Crucial CT2CP51264AC800 8GB (4GBx2) 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module

COMPATIBILITY
=============

My four-year old ThinkPad T61p 6459-CTO is rated on various websites to be only capable of handling 4GB of RAM. My machine recognized all 8GB once it was installed - took about 3 minutes to do the upgrade.

PERFORMANCE
===========

Immediately noticeable was the fact that program switching, even multiple ones open at the same time, was noticeably much faster with no degradation in speed over time. Before the upgrade, I could not keep all of my regularly used programs open for long periods without experiencing sluggishness. I tend to have a lot of small utility programs open, along with my regular programming tools and reference documentation in various windows on my desktop screen. I would sometimes need to close several of these just to get some more responsiveness from the remaining open programs.

RELIABILITY
===========

I'll update this review in six months, to see whether to add one more star or not.

OTHER THOUGHTS
==============

My laptop is rated on various websites to handle a maximum of 4GB of memory, so I was taking a chance that it wouldn't work out and I'd have to return the product. I decided I'd reply on Amazon's excellent return policy in case it doesn't work out.

Upgraded the memory in a Sony Vaio FW series laptop to 8 GB. Easy to install and no problems being recognized by the BIOS. Good increase in system response and speed with Windows 7 and 8 dual boot system. The only bad thing about this is that since it is last gen DDR2 RAM, it is almost 3 or 4 times the price of DDR3 chips.

Ordered this memory for my Quad Core HP laptop to speed up my video editing and rendering..

After several tests with my old 4 gig setup, I installed the new 8gig. The laptop had no
issues in recognizing the 2 sticks of memory and Premiere and Vegas run great!

I would highly recommend this brand of memory for laptop upgrades. I would advise going
to the Crucial web page and enter your brand and model to make sure of compatibility.

Works GREAT! It has done wonders for my old laptop. Upgraded from 4GBs of RAM to 8GBs of RAM and I noticed the difference right away. It's worth the money if you're a developer working with some heavy stuff like Visual Studio 2010, Adobe products (Premiere, PhotoShop, Flash) Eclipse etc etc...

I have computer that uses the AMD Truion Neo processor. It came with 4 GB of ram, and will take 8 GB.
It uses DDR2 ram which has been very, very costly to purchase. For some months, the price was around $200.00 for 8 gigs. I bit the bullet at $130.00.
The performance is appreciably faster, especially for video activities.
The question that remains for you is what is your buy price? For me, the system improvements have been worth the admittedly high price.

I installed this RAM in a Dell M1530 with a solid state hard drive. I had to do a BIOS update from A09 to A12 to get the machine to boot with over 4 GB of RAM. I'm running Windows 8 with ease ...

My Sony laptop surrendered one of its two sticks of RAM which totaled 6 gigs. One 4 and one 2. Of course it was the 4 gig that failed and they are hard to find locally. I live in Tampa and none of the six computer stores stocked 4 gig sticks. In each store I was told "...lots of luck finding one!" So I went to Amazon and found the Crucial 8GB Kit. Crucial is a top quality brand and the kit with two sticks of 4 gig each was exactly what I was looking for.

Best Buy Geek Squad had my laptop for repair, but they were one of the stores that could not provide a 4 gig replacement. I had the kit shipped overnight at what I considered reasonable expense and received it about 2 pm the next day. I took the kit to Best Buy and they snapped both sticks in my laptop in just a couple minutes. No charge as I was covered under their "three computers for two years" service agreement I bought previously.

The result is a great working laptop with two gigs more memory. It makes a big difference and is a big upgrade.
