Arrived quickly and in perfect shape. It's black, it's cast iron, and it's a tea trivet. It does exactly what is was designed to do and it does it well. How can it not get 5 stars?
The rubber feet prevent scratches on stove or counter tops and helps isolate the heat. It is heavier than I expected and will certainly be doing it's job long after I'm gone.

This item is very sturdy and has pretty thick rubber feet.

I got this alone with a hobnail cast iron teapot. I find it's necessary, no matter what material your teapot may be made of, because it does not diffuse the heat from the teapot but, being made of iron, absorbs it very well. Because it has rubber pegs on the bottom, the heat will not get transfered to the counter/tabletop. I highly recommend purchasing this even though it may seem trivial, for maintaining as slow of a decline in water temperature as possible is pivotal in brewing a great cup of tea. I especially recommend this product if your pot will be resting on a stone countertop, as stone really sucks up heat.

There are many gorgeous trivets to temp you to part with your money. I find this one plenty good in serviceability and esthetic appeal. It sits on the table without moving! Keeps kettle from getting the table to hot. The black color is black. Could also be used as a weapon if you tied a rope to it. Cast Iron is Cast Iron, what else is there to say? It is heaver then you might expect which is a good thing!
