The PLBASS8 is an excellent choice for those with small space constraints; it's 2 1/2" tall, so be sure you have enough space behind/under your seat for it. This sub is NOT designed to go in the trunk, you need and want to be close to it for good bass response. I mounted it to the back of my seat, and left the gain about halfway up the first time I tried it out. I was completely blow away by how PUNCHY it was. I have 8's in my door panels and they kick nowhere near as hard as this. There's times where I have to turn it down because the bass is hurting my neck. Don't expect to rattle the people next to you, but instead expect a great low end response that packs a kick. Would definitely recommend for small space applications.

Edit: 10/24/11

The Pyle no longer works. After a month or so of use, I disconnected this sub and set it aside. I tried hooking it back up yesterday and it refused to do anything other than play a 40hz tone, consistently and loudly regardless of the gain or other settings. My ground and power work perfectly fine with my other subs, so I'm pretty sure the internal amplifier in this thing died. Changed from 5 to 3 stars, as it was nice while it worked.

I just bought this sub for my Ford F150 regular cab pickup. My stereo sucked so I figured buying a sub would enhance it to my liking. I installed the sub and tested it out. I had to change the settings on the sub but after that it has been working great. You will get a decent sound in the cab, however, you will not hear it outside the the vehicle. No one even knows I have a sub until they get into my truck. And they always ask, is this factory? They never suspect a sub since I have a regular cab. Another feature which is good is that there is an amp built into the sub. Its an 85 watt amp but it does the job.You will not be noticed at a red light trying to impress the car next to you. As I said before, it doesn't thump but it does give your stereo system a nice sound. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

UPDATE:
I bought this unit on April 23. On April 27 it simple quit working. No sound at all. Contacted support and they said to send it in. I know it got there (UPS Verified). But after that, its been over a month, no repaired unit, no email response, and they will not answer their phones. I'm starting to fear I'm out my $110. I will definitely not buy from them again.

Ordered this sub off of Amazon several months ago and paired it with an Alpine head unit. Placed it under my truck backseat and it provides the low bass that my system was missing. When I turn off the sub and let people hear the before-after effect, they are amazed how much difference bass makes. I will definitely purchase this sub again when I outfit my second car.

I'm wondering if the bad reviewers are adjusting the amp correctly. I'll have to admit that when I first installed it, I didn't have the sub preout set correctly on the Alpine head unit AND the adjustments on the sub were set to minimum levels from the factory. This led me to believe that the amp was not working initially and that all of the bad reviews had come true. The red led on the amp was on so I knew it was getting power, yet there was zero bass effect. Once I played around with all of the settings on the stereo and sub(took about 30 minutes to get it just right), I got some pretty amazing bass.

The sub has been working now for several months under the backseat that has little to no ventilation and have not had any overheating issues. Bass sound is deep and booming within my truck, but can't really tell outside of the truck. I've actually had to adjust the bass level down with remote because the bass is too deep.

UPDATE 11/7/2014: Amp and speaker have had zero issues since installation. Still works as the day it was installed. Still sounds great. Would definitely buy this product again.

First of all, I was a bit worried this would not fit under my Integra seat. It did fit just barely height wise, but I found I was able to turn it 90 degrees which I didn't think I'd be able to do either. In that position it is scarcely visible from behind the seat.
Very convenient to have it under the seat and close to power and cable hook-ups. As I've only had it in for a couple of days I must say that you really know where it is when you are in that seat - sitting elsewhere you are not at all sure where all that low-end sound is coming from. I'm thinking of moving it to the trunk as another option as not sure if I'll get used to my seat shaking. The drum hits and such are very solid. Seems to reproduce bass nicely all the way down. Only a very few seismic bass frequencies are missed. hip-hop, dub-step, and regular rock or classical are nicely reproduced. About 2:50 into Going On (Gnarls Barkley) is a bass wave that is missed but most of the grandiose orchestral low end of Lisa Gerrard is brought out, but not poundingly so.
For an 8 inch speaker, with 85 watt amp. I am very impressed. It will out-do any factory installed subwoofer many of today's cars have. Of course you can't compare it to a couple of 12's separately amped but it does well for being way smaller and more convenient too! Yes, the mirrors will shake a little, no your hair will not move (like with my 12s), and at lower volumes you won't notice that it is under your seat. Thinking of getting another one actually...
