Trail-Grip soles provide plenty of traction on mud and rock, but arent overkill for sidewalks. Scarpa uses a blend of suede and nylon to provide durability and breathability, and waterproof breathable Gore-Tex Extended Comfort inserts to hold back moisture when the rain starts.
