Out of all the products made from liver, this is by far the one with the "cleanest" taste. You don't feel the taste of any fillers, preservatives, spices. It reminds me of the liver pate of my childhood in Europe. My grandfather used to make it at home from pork produced organically (back then there was no other way :) at his farm. It is salty as a true liver pate should be, so caveat emptor for people having trouble with sodium.

Wonderful pate. It's my favorite, and a perfect consistency...a little goes a long way, unlike some other brands. I've been buying this at my local grocery store for years, but they have stopped carrying it. I'm thrilled to be able to get it here. No, I don't eat it every day, but I love having it in the pantry for a treat. It's the best I've found, short of making it myself...wait, maybe better than my own.

I really like Pate and I eat a decent amount of it. I am particularly fond of various duck liver mouses, Les Trois Petits Cochons brand being my favorite- they make a lot of good stuff, but the cost of shipping to get fresh pate on Amazon makes it a no go to order. Enter these. Based on the other reviews I read I figured this would be a stand-in for any decent pate. I could not have been more wrong.

The one review likening the taste of this stuff to the way cat food smells was particularly accurate in my opinion.

From what I've read in the other reviews I can only surmise that this abomination is what some people think pate is supposed to taste like. If you're like me and enjoy fresh pate, however, this is probably not a good product for you. To clarify, I really wanted to like this product. So much so that I gave it multiple chances and served it to a couple friends who wanted to like it as well, hoping that their second opinions would somehow convince me of some merit I had overlooked. Neither of the people I served this to wanted a second bite. Usually when I open a thing of pate, it gets eaten within a day- and those are bigger containers than this ie 5.5oz. The one of these that i opened stayed in the refrigerator getting occasionally nibbled for about a week until i threw it out.

I bought this at my local grocery store -- it was the only liver pate they had. I love liver and having spent several years of my childhood in Europe, I love pate. I thought the flavor was so bad that I threw it out after one bite. It reminded me of the flavor of what some cat food smells like. Guess I'll pay more and get something fresh.
