I have a lot of power tools and woodworking equipment in my basement so I was looking for a good first aid kit to keep handy. As a physician I was looking forward to getting this first aid station to have around for an emergency at home.

The first aid kit arrives well-packaged in a sturdy box, and the metal cabinet is of heavier construction than I expected. It is larger than I expected and has a great deal of storage space for first aid materials. There are several plastic pockets in the door of the box to hold slim items like 4x4 gauze bandages, band-aids, etc. Unlike the product picture, the one sent to me for review contained only two shelves of materials. It lacked the antiseptic pads, gauze pads, and band-aids pictured and was short an entire shelf-full of materials that are implied to come with it in the photo. It does not look at all like what is pictured. The items provided are of very poor quality. The tweezers are made of cheap plastic and the scissors in the kit are lower quality than you would find in a dollar store. They both have the feel of something you would find in a child's pretend doctor bag.

This first aid station is not remotely worth its $100 selling price. The only quality item in the whole kit is the metal cabinet. The rest would be a real embarrassment in a true first aid situation. If you purchase this kit, which I do not recommend at this price, you will want to stock it with better materials and equipment.

I selected this item for review given that my sons' martial arts school had only a little plastic box with some band aids. What better to try than an industrial size cabinet chock full of first aid items. At time of this review the pac kit 6155 was retailing for around 130 bucks, so I factored that into the review. Obviously I received it through Vine, but am reviewing as if I had purchased it in the store.

About this item
The pictures look great. Looks like a well stocked sturdy and professional set but that is just the cover. When I received the item I was pleased with the case: it is quite heavy duty and has a handle as well as wall mount holes in it. But once you open it, it becomes rather disappointing:
- even though there are tons of individually packed items it is all very very low quality of unknown brands. As an example: the gauze is so think that in certain places it looks like some random threads packed together.
- the tape comes in such small quantity that they can barely claim it is included
- band aids do not hold well at all.
- the 493 items is accomplished by stacking it full of worthless items at high quantity. Had the set been cheaper I would have understood but in this case you are looking at something like 20c to 30c an item, not counting the cabinet, and that is really not even close.
- the hardware items (scissors etc.) are throw away. They do not cut and
I have stocked our own bathroom medicine cabinet (IKEA 2 shelves) chock full of items I bought individually here and on the auction site and barely spent half of what this item costs. And all brand names in high quality and quantity.Read more ›

I purchased these to replace some rusted and worn cabinets at work. They come with a decent selection of items, but don't expect it to look like the photos. I liken this to a Big Mac: you get what's listed (two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce...), but the product never looks like it does in the ads. I was happy with the fact that the expiration dates on the items inside are about two years away. Purchased a different kit at one point, and the expiration dates were about two months out.

Purchased Pac-Kit 6155 463 Piece Steel Cabinet Industrial 3 Shelf First Aid Station kit with wall mount slots for our local Grange 12DEC2013 for 118 dollars. I see it is 19 dollars cheaper six weeks later. Overall this is the best first aid kit I could find for our Grange. We received all that was pictured and listed. Outstanding metal case, but I would hate to need carrying it very far. I did some research and did order several things to add to it, including more small bandages, larger vinyl gloves, second burn gel lotion, better scissors and nice tweezers (lots of ticks in RI) to keep in the door plastic slots. The expiration dates on the items included is two to three years away, which I find acceptable. Remote sites without clean running water may want to have bottles of water available.
If you need a nice first aid kit to mount to a wall for a non-profit, I recommend this kit and also getting several volunteers certified in first aid, to greatly reduce the chance of getting sued by covering each first aid provider under the state’s Good Samaritan law protections. (Vary by state, look for your specific statutes.) In some states I would be tempted to label the kit as “personal property”, to reduce the non-profit from getting sued. Unfortunately that is reality in today’s world. I suspect chances of getting sued for not having a first aid kit is just as bad and it is far better to help people that need assistance. Most decent folks will not even consider suing those doing their best as a volunteer to assist them in an emergency. Also recommend that medications not be distributed in some states, unless you are a health care professional, but others can probably mention with reduced liability concerns that pain relievers are in the kit if any adult wants to help themselves.Read more ›
