I bought these for my daughter's graduation party as a surprise to her....she may be growing up but still kid at heart (she loves the movie Tangled). Anyhow, each lantern was individually packaged with easy to follow directions. None of my lanterns were damaged. I purchased 2 orders. All our lanterns were successful. I found it best to have two people to work as a team. The instructions say lift off will take about 45-90 seconds. They have a quicker ascent if you hold them closer to the 90 second mark. Best to use them in an open area so they don't get hung up in any trees. They all reached great heights. We had children to adults sending them off without any problems. They were fun to send off as well as just watch float into the sky. If you want a mass send off you will need to set up several teams. The lanterns fuel pad eventually burns out and they return to the ground, somewhere. Many of ours landed well over a mile away. Follow the directions and enjoy!

There are tons of sites for sky lanterns. I was lucky to find this one on amazon.com. This will be the second time I've ordered these lanterns. They work great and kids as well as adults enjoyed the display. Well worth the expense and you won't be disappointed.

Im really not sure how to rate this. Yes it worked it was cool..there was a warning about starting fires. So It was wetoutside and I said "lets try this out" It worked as stated went up about 200 feet caught fire went down on what I thought was someones roof. I looked for it and it went out lucky for me. Now it did warn about doing them around homes and starting fires when dry...stupid me. So if you play with these be aware of this, I did it when it was wet thank god. Ill save them for when it snows and use all of them.

Lanterns have sat in a warehouse with moisture or something. 4 out of the 14 that we have tried to light off ended up getting torn while trying to open up to light.

When these came I was like "Damn these are big!! And colorful!!" The first time I used them me and my girl tried to light them off when it was stormy and windy and the lantern was like "nah dude." So I wouldn't recommend trying to light them off if it is in any way windy. They go super high like woah way above the grasp of human hands. You can see their light emanating through the night sky for as far as they go. I think they last for about fifteen minutes of pure awesome. You watch them gently guide themselves into the sky and you're like wow this world is small. I just lit a large bag on fire and it's soaring through the air with glory and no one but you will notice. This one time me and a friend lit one at this school. Just as it was taking off this truck pulls up and on the side of the truck it says "County Fire Marshall" and we were like oh oh s***. The truck takes off chasing the lantern that's soaring through the air carried by freedom and burning. Anyway we take off from the school and as we're driving away we see the truck hauling ass back to the school probably with the intent of yelling at us for being hooligans. We are hooligans and were proud of it. Overall I would highly recommend these lanterns. They're cheap but effective and that's what you really want. I would also suggest you be mindful of negative prying eyes when you light these babies off.

For the price these are ok and have fun colors, but there were about 1/2 that had seams glued to the rest of the tissue paper, tearing holes in the paper when we tried to gently open them to the right shape. We did cover them with tape so they were still able to float, but it was time consuming trying to find and cover all the holes.
