Well to start I have a magnetic tool pickup, but with no light. So like others stated had to use my teeth to hold the flashlight while searching. Saw this one on amazon and I liked the length. A lot longer reach than my old one. I have used it several times now as I am constantly dropping screws etc. Boy it's got the length and magnet to do the job. The light has been so helpful for me. I highly recommend this product. Folded up it is about 8 inches long. Extended end to end 33 inches. Great product.

I was drawn to this item because of the integrated light and that feature is very welcome when using the tool. However, the overall dimensions of the tool are a bit large for what I had envisioned.

The diameter for the lighted, magnetic end is fully 11/16" which is much too big for many tasks of retrieval in tight quarters. The overall length when collapsed is 8". This also is quite a bit larger that I had expected and yet the magnet strength is weak for the size of the tool.

The tool appears well made but will not lend itself to being carried in a short pocket as did my last one. Given the chance to do it over, I believe I would opt for the standard slim telescoping configuration without the light.

I won't be sending it back but will likely be purchasing another smaller one with a more powerful magnet.

My fault for not paying attention to the type of battery it uses. I try never to buy anything that uses button batteries; they are expensive; difficult to recycle...and over all dangerous to children and pets. It will not pick up an object much heavier than a small screw driver. Certainly will not pick up 5# as advertised.

There isn't a lot to say about this, but basically, this is a great little invention, particularly combining the light with the magnet. I am constantly dropping nuts/bolts during projects and this is a great way to grab them when they get in those little nooks and crannies! And of course, the Craftsman name speaks for itself. I got this as a gift, so I am not sure what it cost, but based on the list price from Amazon, I would say that is a reasonable price for this "must have" for the toolbox!
