Card only works in Native IDE mode will not work as AHCI .... also tried to run a 3 tb drive with the card, didn't work... updated the drivers still didn't work... no bios flashing with VIA drivers.... (VIA drivers and Silicon Image drivers work with this card)... Haven't tried the SI drivers yet... Giving this device only 1 star because it at least works in IDE mode.. I did eventually get the card to work in AHCI mode, but then my onboard SATA devices wouldn't show up... it just froze when it computer bios started to identify them... I've tried a lot of different ways to make this work and have given up... During one of these events I lost all data on a hard drive... fortunately I was able to retrieve all of it with EaseUS Data and Partition recovery software (free endorsement).

Using this to connect a DVD multi-drive and a Blu-ray drive using the SATA ports. Works great! Vista 32-bit recognizes them and they work flawlessly each boot. Linux Ubuntu 12.04 recognized them as well without issue and they both work great! Cannot comment on the PATA or RAID functionality. Fits in the PCI slot without issue and the location/orientation of the SATA ports is nice to keep the cables managed well.

This works really well, and really helps you add extra drives and or storage. It will support 2 SATA drives and 2 PATA (IDE) drives. It installs really easy and works very well. I gave it only 4 out of 5 stars because it is stated that this is a bootable card, and it is not. You still have to have a hard disk with your OS installed, and an optical drive to install the drivers before you can use a drive that is attached to the card itself. It can be configured as a RAID array, or just an aded set of drives.
