Consider that I am a DIY home fixer as you read this review.

For years I have done business with the largest plumbing supply company in my town of 500,000, have an account with them, and consider their advice to be near golden. For all those years I have maintained a sewage sump pump in our basement which has required replacement of the 2" check valve about every 10 or so years. The last one this supply house sold me had a spring in it, operating a ball type valve, and it was relatively quiet and flawless in operation until years later the ball seat began to leak. So, I went back to buy another only to be told: "You don't want a spring operated valve!" A web search brought this check valve to my attention and you can understand my consternation when I read that it was operated by a stainless steel spring. Well, I just finished installing it and my response is one word: WOW. The thing is so quick and quiet that I have to stand next to it to know if it is working.

So what about the spring problem? Well, remember the last one the supply house sold me was spring operated? It lasted years, and reading up on the subject showed me that several companies now manufacture large, up to 11 or more inches, spring operated check valves for industry. So, I am willing to take my chances. In the meantime, my sump pump, house, and occupants are enjoying the gentle closing of the valve, rather than the wall rattling jarring typical of flapper style valves.

2016 UPDATE: This check valve has been flawlessly working since it was installed and I am happy it is still stocked by Amazon.

I saw this as a recommended product when purchasing a new ejector pump. I couldn't believe I haven't found this before. For years we have been living with the bang of the water hammer noise when my old check valve would slam shut. This COMPLETELY eliminates the noise!!! Its amazing! I suspect because of the spring action of the flap, some water might go back down, but heck, that is nothing compared to the value this has brought!! Buy it!!!

The description says it is quiet, but I feel that's misleading. It's actually completely silent, as in, "is it even doing anything?"-silent. That's with it mounted just above the sump pit. It was a breeze to install and I like the fact that it is easily removable via the threaded collars so it could be cleaned or replaced later with no cutting. Previously, I had 2 full flow swing gate valves in series on my ejector pump, and it hammered like crazy. One of these is all you need. I ordered it on a friday, and received it on the following Tuesday. Awesome.

This check valve has solved by loud banging noise on my ejector pump. For years I was trying to figure out why my pump was so loud. A friend then recommended I and a new check valve so of course the first place I came was amazon.

I found this valve, purchased it, relatively easy to install (some handy man skills required) and ta-da....no more noise.

The flap inside of this valve must be a slow close so that it does not bang at all anymore when the pump stop shooting the water up the pipe. The noise I use to have was so annoying it would shake my entire house and even wake me up in the middle of the night. This valve stopped all of that noise and has functioned well since installing it!

If your pump emits a loud "bang" after it stops pumping, odds are you have an old school check valve that slams shut! I would highly recommend this valve to help you stop that "banging" sound!

Works great and does not make any noise when functioning. I am using this on the output of a gray water pump that services the laundry and sink in my basement. Without this valve the pump would pump out all of the water, shut off, and all of the water in the 8' of vertical pipe would descend back into the pump. Another nice thing about the valve is that is has a threaded union on both sides which makes it easy to service when necessary. It has been in service for about 2 months with no malfunctions.

I shopped at both Lowe's and Home Depot for "quiet" check valves, but the ones I bought still had a loud "thump" when the 3/4 hp ejector motor stopped running. After an extensive search, I found this item online and it had great reviews. The install was some simple PVC prep and glue... and now... NO "THUMP"! The product works flawlessly regarding sound. Time will tell if it holds up as well under daily use, but I have high hopes.
