Great Brand with another Great Shoe

This is my 4th pair of Thorogood Shoes or Boots and they have upheld the standards I have come to expect from them. The leather upper is of top quality that maintains a mirror-like shine. Also the upper has strong stitching that I have never seen fail. The sole is also well made and provides excellent traction. Thorogood is the best.

Amazing shoes if you stand and walk all day

These are probably the best work shoes I've ever owned and that's not an exaggeration. In my line of work, I stand and walk throughout an 8hour shift usually on cheap vinyl flooring that's occasionally slick with liquids. So my criteria for a work show was comfort, slip protection and basic water resistance and this shoe fits the bill. I've had these for almost 6months of daily use.

The construction: Excellent workmanship. No seams, leather was well stitched. I'm impressed. The leather is holding up well with a bit of wiping every so often and a good conditioning with leather oil.

The fit: They fit as advertised. Very comfortable and the laces allow you to tighten them to your liking.

Comfort: Amazing comfort. The leather was a bit firm on arrival but has broken in nicely. Excellent and soft while providing great support. The inner sole is padded and extremely comfortable. I can walked and stand on my feet for hours without any significant issue.

Slip protection: They're US Postal certified shoes so they're suppose to be water and oil slip resistant and they are. They prevent slippage on vinyl flooring slick with water and have saved me from falling on my butt on 2 occasions already. Haven't stepped on oil yet to try how resistant they are. However, they do squeak on the vinyl flooring. Not bad but noticeably. They won't do it on regular concrete or asphalt but keep that little annoyance in mind.

The look: These are bulbous and not very streamlined looking shoes. Basic shiny black. I don't need to polish my shoes but they'll polish up without any problem. The sole and heel are raised by about a half inch and the sole is pretty thick. They can at best be used as part of a uniform but don't expect them to make a fashion statement.Read more ›

Comfortable

Received the shoes a couple of weeks ago and have been using them since then. Very comfortable even out of the box. Fit is as expected. Ordered 7 ee and gave me plenty of room in the toe area. I would highly recommend this pair to anyone who has to be on their feet for 8 or more hours a day.

I just received my third pair of these fine shoes. I work eight to ten hours a day standing on a concrete floor at my shop. These shoes are very comfortable and give good support. I think the price is fair.
The only downside is they last only about two years before the leather starts to separate from the sole at the front of the shoe. This happened on the last two pairs. The sole and heal and the rest of the upper leather are still in very good shape. If they lasted until the soles or heals wore out I would have given them five stars.

all around great! they hurt like hell when you first get them, as do all my leather shoes/boots at first. but one you break them in and put some conditioner on them, they soften up and fit like a glove. would of gave them 5 stars but both are missing a main stitch on the same side, there are back up stitches about a 1/8" away to prevent them from unraveling up the whole side , but still. all in all, i would buy from this manufacturer again .

Good Quality Shoes, Supportive and Comfortable

I was pleased with these shoes even though I usually don't like gym-shoe type shoes that have rubber soles glued to the leather. They have good support and are very comfortable. They are surprisingly thick soled and add an inch or two to my height. The uppers hold my heel well and one can run in this pretty effectively, but they really stand out as a standing or walking shoe. They take black shoe polish well and look reasonably presentable for more formal occasions.

These shoes won't last long

I'm not sure what the intended propose of these shoes is, they are certainly not a good work shoe. I work in an automotive shop and spend a lot of time on my feet. They seem to fit just a little small as I had read on some reviews, and got a 10.5 instead of an 11 so they fit just right. When I unboxed them the lightness was noticeable. The lightness in this case was not a good thing though as the leather is quite thin, and i believe cheap. The stitching is also weak because it has broken near the laces and one shoe is coming apart after only one week of use. I do like the sole though, as it seems very grippy and the lugs are designed so they don't track dirt into the house. If you have high arches, pronate or walk anything other than normal, be aware there is no arch support in these shoes. The insoles provided are very tall in the heel and add about 1/2" to your height but it feels like you are walking in high heels and you will turn your ankle if you are not careful. I ditched the insoles after the first day and bought some better ones. After reading all the good reviews on these shoes I did something I normally don't do which is buy a pair of shoes over the internet without first examining them in person. If you are looking for quality work shoes that will last you long time, you will have to spend a little more and get a better pair. I expect these will be in the trash in 6 months or less.
