At first, worked perfectly... I've had this for a little over 30 days now; probably have used it 25+ times out of those days. My husband has been noticing the back legs basically have gotten too hot & melted down, becoming even with the ground. Just ordered a new & different grate :( from different company, hopefully iron will sustain the heat??

Not happy. Yes, it absolutely does hold a couple of logs on fire. Above and beyond that, stuff is rolling off all over the place. Originally we thought maybe we had the grate turned backwards because the logs, on fire mind you, would just roll right off the front mid blaze. We flipped it around, now they just roll off the back. If you are burning fires for ambiance, then this will possibly work for you but above a two by two stack, keep on looking. In addition, the grate under the bars is dipping dramatically after only month of having the grate and we have MAYBE burned two dozen fires. I RARELY leave reviews but, after cooking my hand like we are in frontier land and I'm trying to grill up some vittles, I'd had enough. I consider this thing a safety hazard. It's not our fires or burning style the last grate lasted about 10 years. May your winter be nice and toasty, not your hand or hearth. Pictures of average Fire, to hot to get in there and show you the back log just flopped to the back of the fireplace.

Tag on grate clearly states made in China.
Seller stated 1/2" bars, the legs are actually 3/8" cross bars are 1/2"
The legs quickly bend outward and the center sags downward with very few uses.
Grates are considered perishable but this one just didn't last as long as others I have used.

The grate appears to be well made, but the surface for putting wood on is only 13 inches wide on the 18 inch model. The legs do taper out to 18 inches. The grate is made in China despite being listed on Amazon as made in the USA.

This product did not last half of the winter, and we do not use the fireplace that often. A lot of the bars fell off, I guess they couldn't take the heat.

Product is generally as described but not made in USA - 'Made in China' is clearly stated on the attached label. The grate bed sits lower than my old grate, I hadn't realized this from the description. Not a problem if using fire starters, but it's difficult to wad up newspapers below the grate.
