My daughter enjoyed a similar round toy like this at a friend's house, so I got these for her. The catching surface is very small, which makes it too challenging for a 3-year-old. If her hand-eye coordination were good enough to use this toy she could also play catch with a regular ball.

People should probably stop reviewing the item based on whether their child liked it or not (instead of how well it actually works), because babies and toddlers probably don't have any comparison since this might be their first toy like this. But those of us who played with the traditional circle-shaped catching pads as kids might be disappointed.

Where do I start... this item would definitely get a higher review from me if I was rating it as a cute stuffed animal toy, but that really isn't the primary function. The primary function is actually severely flawed. As many have mentioned, the catching surface is too small (only the red mouth part will stick). But that's not what the worst part is. The worst part is that the BALLS SHOWN IN THE PRODUCT PHOTO ARE NOT ACTUAL REPRESENTATIONS OF WHAT YOU GET!!! I'm sorry, but that is an automatic 2-star deduction for me.

Now, to clarify, the balls actually have 2 velcro strips attached to them where they actually stick well. The rest of it will most likely bounce off if it does not hit those strips. So the company chose to save money on the most important aspects of this toy (catching surface and velcro) in order to give you FROGS! Pretty much a joke if you ask me... update the pictures on your products please.

I also forgot to add that the intended spacing for the straps that your hands hold it with are for ADULTS. They actually went through the trouble to create a spacer so that you can't pull the strap all the way to fit a CHILD's HANDS (LOL???). However, if you force it hard enough you will be able to pull the strap through. This company had a great idea, but the implementation of the product is just sad. Anyone who gave this product 5 stars has standards of a 1 star.

My 2 year old got this for Christmas and he loved the colors and the idea but he couldn't hold on to the mitts with the straps b/c his hands didn't fit well. He definitely prefered throwing to catching. The balls are soft which is very good! I would recommend this for older toddlers because the area for catching is a little too small and most of the time is spent chasing after the balls. If I bought something like this again I would shoot for one with more area for catching.
Keep away from the dog- ours was covered in hair (both the green frog fabric and the velcro) in less than a day.

This throw and catch game is adoreable! My 2 year old son got it for Christmas and he loves playing "froggy catch" with anyone who will play! It took him a little while to figure it all out but, now he really enjoys it. I would highly recommend it especially now that it's too cold to go outside and play. The balls are soft and fairly light weight. So, it's accident friendly too.

Cute, well made item from melissa and doug. I love that the balls are soft so they are good for indoor use. Have used it with a three year old and an almost two....they can pull off the balls way easier then the more rigid ones. The frogs do stick to the carpets though...

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for our young daughters. Friends have similar toys and they've really enjoyed playing with those. Now, three months later, am disappointed. They've used it twice for a few minutes unprompted and never more than a couple minutes when I initiate a game. It just doesn't spark or hold their interest. Not sure why, but here are some observations:

Pros:
> Sturdy, well constructed with quality velcro.
> When the ball hits the red mouth area, it sticks and doesn't bounce off. The Melissa & Doug video was not exaggerating.
> Both girls enjoy the frog motif and bright colors

Cons:
> The ball only sticks to the red mouth area - there is a lot of area on the front of each frog that the ball won't stick to. When the ball hits those areas, it bounces off usually ending up under furniture. If the entire front were velcro, it would work much more consistently.
> The velcro is so strong that both girls, but especially our youngest, have trouble pulling the ball off of the frog when it does stick.
> Like with all velcro, the frog's mouths easily captures and holds lint/fibers. Have to pull them out from time to time.

Though it may be perfect for others, my kids don't play with it enough to make it worth the price (it wasn't inexpensive), so three stars is all I can give.

Great fun little toy for kids. The balls are lightweight so they won't damage anything inside the house but are still able to throw easily. I was afraid they are too lightweight to where you wouldn't be able to throw them far at all (similar to trying to throw a cotton ball haha) but that was NOT the problem at all. My nephew needed something fun to do activity wise inside when it was too cold to play outside and this does the trick!

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the material feels a little cheap and itchy to me (although I have sensitive skin). No one else seemed to have cared. With that being said I would say it still felt sturdy like it wasn't going to fall or rip apart anytime soon. Stitching seems well done. Overall great fun little toy!
