I couldn't taste ranch on any of these. They had a flavor for sure, but it wasn't ranch. These just tasted foul to me. I gave them away to a friend and his kids appeared to enjoy them.

I did give them an extra star because they use really high quality seeds.

I love sunflower seeds... I first tried this brand on a Montana fishing trip.. They aren't easy to find in NC so I ordered online... They have bigger seeds than other brands and always seem to crack easily... The ranch ones are terrific..

I've been chewing these seeds for years, and the Zesty Ranch is by far my favorite. I'm very disappointed that they switched to the Hidden Vally ranch. They taste fine, but the Zesty is oh so much better. I'm buying the Zesty by the case, now that they are no longer made. I'll be bummed when my stash runs dry.

Prior to BIG's, I considered myself a dabbler with sunflower seeds. Then a friend recommended BIGS, and the first package I bought was Big's RANCH - and all bets were off. I was looking to take boring road trips from Phoenix to Las Vegas just so I could enjoy a bag or two of Big's along the way. i found myself obsessing about the things - I'd ordered boxes such as what's depicted on this purchase - and had enough to last me two weeks.

Now clearly these aren't advised for someone with problems with sodium, and I will be the first to admit they aren't the best for your teeth. However, I am NOT a paid representative - and can say - just thinking about these things makes my mouth water. MUCH better than smoking a pack of cigarettes or candies in my opinion!

Pavlov ain't got nothing on these seeds.

This is kind-of in response to the negative reviews. I hesitate to talk the item up as theyre sort of sold out right now and I dont want too many people buying them! First of all, Im a seed FANATIC. I eat 1-2 5 oz. bags a week. As sunflower seeds are good for you, I would rather snack on them than potato chips. I discovered the BiGS brand around two years ago. As far as flavor and size...these are the best ones if you like ranch flavoring. (Edit 1-22-13) I just bought two boxes of the new Hidden Valley Ranch and the flavor is NOT as good as the old Zesty Ranch! I therefore reduced my rating of this product. I'm not sure who's idea it was to change it but it was a BAD move! That said, the flavor is still decent but I won't be buying them anymore.

I dont find them to be overly salty as it doesnt interfere with the flavor. The seeds are BIG, bigger than the David Jumbo ones and have a better flavor. This makes them easy to crack open which means you can eat more nutty goodness faster. The shells are slightly thicker than regular seeds but its not an issue when cracking the seeds. The flavor of the kernel itself is a perfectly roasted nutty flavor. As any seed lover knows youre going to get a "bad seed" ( bad tasting or rotten ) every now and then...its inevitable. I would say one every couple bags for me. I have bought four cases of these so far.
