The glass is not thick enough in the lower section. We filled the bottom container with ice and the upper with liquid, as suggested, the first time we used it. At the end of the night, when the upper unit was 2/3rds empty, I noticed that the lower section had a large crack in it. Also, the fit between the upper and lower parts is very loose. When empty the upper shifts around a lot. There is a card included which warns about this and says it will stabilize when full. That's true, it does, as long as it stays full. However, if you dispense most of the beverage from your beverage dispenser it loses stability and begins to shift around again. At the beginning of the evening it worked beautifully and was the object of many positive comments. Unfortunatly, we only got to use it that one time. Not Recommended.

There are 2 MAJOR problems with this product:

1) The design of the spout is faulty. They do not even dispense water properly. Water dribbles out, taking long minutes to fill a single cup. I ordered 3 of them; they all have the identical problem.

2) Customer service with Artland is non-existent. I have been calling & leaving messages, but nobody answers or returns calls. I wanted to see if they were aware of the spout problem and had a possible solution worked out with a new spout or a lead on where to find one, but no such luck.

Have a little pride, Artland, and make sure that you either sell functioning products or are willing to at least work with your customers to find solutions to the obvious failure of said products.

The dispenser is very pretty. I decorated it almost exactly as the picture. But, the beverage came out soooo slow that I actually took the lid off the dispenser and put in a ladle to use instead. The spout is also plastic and not steel. There are a lot of other dispensers out there that now have steel dispensers for close to the same amount of money. Next time I will get one of those.

Is it worth it to buy glass when the acrylic is much cheaper? YES. Acrylic scratches the minute you take it out of the box. I have scientifically proven that if you turn your back on a acrylic dispenser for 10 seconds or more, it will automagically scratch itself without being touched by human hands. Now try using plastic at a party. Scratch City. You will be amazed at the quality of this dispenser. Beautifully molded clear glass without major distortion or bubbles. The pieces fit nicely together and it looks tremendous when you fill the base with ice or fruit. Trust me - every time we use this, several people want to know where we bought it so they can buy one. As to the spigot - remember to hand tighten before you add liquid. It comes installed fairly loosely and will leak if you do not tighten first. Will the spigot eventually leak? Yes. Buy the Wheelock 304 Stainless Steel Beverage Dispenser Replacement Spigot here on Amazon for $10.95 and problem solved. The replacement spigot also has an improved flow rate. The stock spigot is slow to dispense liquid.

We drink only purified water and there was no way to install a unit upstairs in the bath off our bedroom, so, we decided this might be the ticket. We're really happy with this item. I've always been a fan of having rocks next to water. It's repeating a soothing energy from nature. So I have filled the bottom portion half-full with black smooth Mexican beach stones. It looks great and I feel it gives the room a fresh, Zen feel.

Thus far, the spigot has not leaked and the height is perfect for any drinking glass.

Obviously, this IS glass and if you ask me, all glass is fragile. So it's important to be careful and watch all your moves when filling, removing the lid, cleaning, etc. However, I cannot imagine for the life of me why people would make all the 'fragile' comments. It's glass!!!! If one finds this to be too fragile, I recommend they go for a plastic vessel instead.

I do love the looks. It arrived yesterday and I haven't really used it yet, but it checks out well. The only thing I would say is that the spigot is definitely not metal. It is plastic that has been chromed to look like metal. I did order a metal spigot so I am OK. But anyone who wishes to add citrus to their water might want to also order the stainless spigot. Citrus fruit and especially citrus essential oils, which I use in my water, will eat the plastic and some of the eroded product will end up in your water. Not good.

This beverage dispenser looks great and is functional with the glass bowl stand underneath to fill with ice or decorations. Unfortunately, the pour spout is not very sturdily affixed and the glass is thin and chips easily. I'd recommend going with a more expensive and better made item if it is something that you plan on using more than once.
