I actually gave a list of my pedals to someone and asked what the best options would be, and this is one of the two recommended. While it is a great power supply, there are a couple issues that I've had with it, and unfortunately I'll have to exchange mine.

Let me start with the pros. For one, it's got variable voltage on the back. You can switch the 5 outlets from 9V to 12V, and if you want it, you can have the other two have "SAG" control, which emulates a worn battery. With some effects, getting a little less voltage can produce a cool effect. I don't need this, but it's a nice thought to have it there if I wanted to get a little... experimental... with my pedals. There's also 9V AC outlet on there, which is good if you need to power something like a Line 6 Modeler. I don't have one, but once again.. nice thought.

Now here are the issues I've had with it. For one, I think the Pedal Train is one of the most popular pedalboards on the market right now, and it happens to be the pedalboard that I use. When mounting this, the cutouts on the pedalboard don't match up with the outlets on this power supply. For clarification, I'm using the PT2, which has the same ratio for the cutouts as the PTJunior. The PTPro (I believe) won't have this issue. The problem this creates is that you can have the IEC power go into the Power Plant, but the 'courtesy' outlet on the other side will be blocked. It's not a huge issue, but it kind of makes having the extra outlet there pointless.

The DIP switches (for switching 9V>12V) are nestled right next to that outlet as well. Pro-you'll never accidentally switch one without realizing it, possibly causing damage to your pedal.

Ok, I was using a DC Brick for my power consumption needs on my Pedaltrain PT2 (old version). Since my PT2 did not have the punch outs for a power supply to be stored underneath I was using zip ties. Eventually I decided to splurge on the Mod Tone Power Plant since it fit my needs. This is a well built piece of equipment. Has 7 DC outs on the front with switchable voltages via the DIP switches in the rear. The last two provide a SAG function. This is the equivalent of a dying battery which can have some nice sounds when using a fuzz pedal. There is also a 9 volt AC power output on the side and a courtesy outlet on the rear. So I can run all my overdrives, wah, and fuzz boxes as well as my Line 6 M9 (off the courtesy outlet) from one power supply.

Be forewarned, this is not the same dimensions as the Voodoo Labs PP2 Plus, so if you have the mounting brackets for your Pedaltrain it is not going to work due to the 9 VAC jack on the side of the Power Plant. I found this out the hard way when I tried to mount it on my Pedaltrain Pro I recently required over the holidays. If you do manage to mount it you can not get to the power input and courtesy outlet on the back of the unit. Not really Mod Tone's fault since they have no idea what pedal board you are using but for folks who own Pedaltrain products here are the dimensions for both:

Power Plant Dimensions: 7 1/4" wide X 3.5" deep X 2.0" Tall
Voodoo Labs Pedal power Plus 2 Dimensions: 6" wide x 3.4" deep x 1.75" tall

So I have it on top and it is fine where it is. Works for me.

It does cost more than the Voodoo Labs and they are in the process of coming out with a 2.0 version so that you can power things like the M9/M13 but as far as build quality and reliability I think they are both neck and neck in quality.

This power supply is awesome...ish. The 9v ac out along with the dc outs is just what I needed. The courtesy ac outlet is a must have; primarily because the milliamps are not as listed in the product description or as described in the youtube video about the pedal FROM MODTONE! They describe 150 mA per output plus 1000 mA output on the SAG outputs. The manual has stickers over those numbers lowering them to 100 and 200!! A drop from 150 to 100, while crappy, is not a lot, the drop to 200 from 1000 is way out of line! I luckily saw this change before I plugged everything up. I have had to mod some cables to use this supply.
Dont get me wrong, I really like this power supply, I just feel a little mislead my ModTone and am lucky enough to live around the corner from a hole in the wall electronics shop that can mod some cables for me.
If you are aware of the changes before hand so you can have a game plan, this pedal is def a 5 star product, but being blindsided with the way huge spec changes gives it a 3.

For my situation, the PowerPlant works very well. The main feature for me, and the reason why I bought this power supply, is the 9VAC outlet. In the current (2012) version this outlet puts out 1.3 amps (or 1300 mA), which is enough to power my Line6 M13. Truthfully, it was enough power to run both the M13 AND a Rocktron All Access MIDI controller via a daisy chain. The previous version's AC outlet only put out 1000 mA, and this was not enough to reliable power the M13 or even the M9 (they would boot up but would begin power cycling after 5-10 minutes as they were starved for more juice.) The current version's high power rating fixes this issue. You can visually tell the two versions apart because the 1.3 version has a "1.3" lettered within the lightening bolt graphic on the unit's top. Don't judge the version based on the Amazon photo, or even the photo on the ModTone web site. Hell, even their manual has not been updated to reflect the newer version greater AC outlet power. What's up with that, Modtone? Anyway, I don't think you need to worry about this if you are buying a unit new in the box, but if you are buying one on ebay or similar, that's something to consider.

I agree with the other reviewers that the current ratings for the other outlets are less than I would like, but if you have a M13 or M9, this is one of the few PSUs available that will work, period. That it can power a M13 and a bunch of other normal 9VDC pedals is great and worth noting. I'm pretty happy with it for that reason alone.
