Bought this tape with high expectations on comfort and durability. I installed the tape less than 4 months ago and the tape is wearing through to the white under the color where my palm rest, just behind the brake hood. The bike hasn't been crashed or dropped the wear is just from my hand placement. For the money, I'm not sure I'd buy this tape again, which is a shame, because I do like the color. Maybe the 2.5mm is more durable. I contacted Lizard Skins regarding warranty using the form on their website, no reply.

I've done one 84 mile ride since installing white Lizard Skins. It has a very "grippy" feel, it almost sticks to my hands. It takes some getting used to, but it's a good safety feature. I've nearly crashed in the past by hands slipping off the bars.

It does provide a nice soft cushion-y feel. Part of my monthly ride in the roads of the Santa Monicas is along Yerba Buena Road, which is full of wide transverse cracks. On a fast descent the handlebars vibrate violently, kinda like holding a jackhammer. This tape definitely took the bite off the vibration.

They look beautiful on the bike, with a slight glossy look.

My problem with this tape is that there is not quite enough length provided. My handlebars probably take more tape than most bikes, with the low drops. But I'd think they would provide plenty of tape for all uses. Part of the problem is that the instructions say to not to stretch the tape while installing. Not stretching it at all is not possible, since you have to fit the tape to the contours of the handlebar. So I used the minimum stretching that I could, which contributed to the problem of insufficient length.

The reason that I got this particular tape is that I was told that they are easier to keep clean than other tapes. That's important for me, since I use white tape, and in the past the white stuff gets grungy looking. After one ride, there is absolutely no staining. They look as good as when I installed them.

Three months down the line, I have not experienced the problem "The Squirrel" has with cleaning. For me it cleans very nicely, much better than any of the porous tapes that I've used.

One problem though is that it yellows over time with exposure to the elements.

TL;DR Great tape if you're willing to replace it once a season. It is by no means bad tape, however. Would rate it around 3.5 rather than 3 stars.

While this tape feels great it wears down fast and cleaning has mixed results (keeping in mind I purchased white). The wear issue is the real downfall.

The bad:
-Wears down FAST. The exterior and foamy/soft nature of the tape deteriorates rapidly. Expect about one season of frequent use from it.
-Stains yellow (eventually) from sweat unless you take care to wipe it with soap+water after every ride. It holds up great at first. This is irrelevant on colors other than white.
-Shifts around after being wrapped. The instructions say not to wrap it tight. The tape won't stay put if you do not wrap it tightly. I've re-wrapped the tape 3 times progressively tighter. It finally stayed put the last time after some minor shifting.
-I wouldn't say the roll is short but it's certainly not generous in length. The lack of significant stretching aggravates this.
-Overpriced. If this tape was $10/roll I really wouldn't mind replacing it once a season. It performs well in the technical department it's simply not durable. Frequent replacement just doesn't pair well with increased pricing.

The good:
+Sheds mud and road grime easily. I could see this being useful in cyclocross.
+Rides soft with generous padding. Dampens vibration well. Riding bare-handed is a pleasure with this tape.
+Grips your hands well even when wet. The surface has a tactile rubber feel & you should not have any issues slipping.

I really wanted this tape to work out. The positive aspects are amazing. The lack of durability with higher cost is a toxic combination. The tape shifting around on the bar drove me nuts until I ignored the instructions. I'm going to Fizik Microtex and will see if that provides better results.

I was initially concerned about reviews regarding installation difficulty and the slippery feel when the tape got wet. Here is what my experience was: First it is rather difficult to install. Per the directions, you can't stretch it when installing. This is very different from normal cork tape. Because you can't stretch it, it is very easy to leave bubbles or gaps when rolling it on the handlebars. To correct this I found rolling it slowly and holding it place (I had my wife hold it down as I rolled it) worked very well. Next, the figure 8 around the shifters is VERY difficult to get right because you can't stretch it. I found it difficult to lay down without leave "bubbles". To fix this I used the short piece of tape and stretched it tight over the figure 8. As far as the slipperiness of the tape when it got wet. It does lose some of the tactile feel when wet but it is MUCH better than your average cork tape. Overall the tape is awesome and worth the extra hassle in installation. It's a little bit thicker but provides the absolute BEST padding and vibration dampening out of all the other cork tape I have used.
