I've been using their Devil's food mix for years and thought I would try this for some variety. Neither I, nor the kids liked it as well as the Devi's Food. The yellow cake didn't have as much flavor. I tried again, sweetening with banana and agave and I like the finished product much better. What I do LOVE about the 123 cake mix products, is that I add my own sweetener to the mix, which allows me to use Agave for the chocolate (keeping it low GI) and agave and banana for the yellow cake. I have also made brownies with the Devil's Food mix by adding a softened brick of cream cheese, 2 T of whipping cream and two extra egg yolks to the mix. YUM. Know going in that the texture of these cakes is going to be firm, very much like a pound cake. After six years with a gluten free kid, these are the only mixes that I use for birthday cakes and cupcakes. I'm thinking about adding coconut milk and raw coconut flakes to the next one I try.

DO NOT BOTHER if EGG FREE! Even though it gives an egg free suggestion with flaxseed it requires 6 eggs --- that is a lot. I used ener-g egg replacer in other kingbarthur chic cake mix and it is amazing. This mix is dense and gummy even with the egg replacer. I am sure with 6 eggs it would be light and fluffy. It also requires a LOT of sugar to be added. I had high hopes but definitely would not buy again. So far the King Arthur gf chic cake mix with egg replacer ( and even without the one time I had none) came out FAR better than this. Boo- one day I'll find a decent vanilla mix. :(

A warning dialogue box should come up asking if you want to spend $8 for shipping for a $6 product. It was shipped from someplace different from the rest of the order. The cake was good, but having to add 2 cups of sugar, 1 or 2 sticks of butter and 6 eggs made it too expensive.
