Pros:

* LEDs look great. Movement is smooth and fairly accurate.

* 8 grounded AC outlets with a fuse rated at 15 amps 250 volts. Very decent.

* Removable rack ears for use on a shelf.

* Cushioned feet for placement on a shelf.

* Convenient 5 volt USB power outlet (which for some reason is not mentioned in the ad).

* Standard removable grounded AC power cord.

* Individual audio sensitivity adjustments for right and left meters.

Cons:

* The power button only turns off the LED audio meters. There is no way to cut the power to the USB power outlet or the AC power outlets. Therefor it doesn't replace a switched power strip. But I knew this before making the purchase, and saw no other company offering a similar product with AC outlets that could be powered off.

* No AC power outlet or USB power outlet amp rating is mentioned in the manual or on the product. The AC power is rated for up to 15 amps, 250 volts, according to the fuse. Which is very good, but they don't mention this on the product or in the manual. I had to find this out by myself looking at the fuse's model number and checking out the fuse's rating online. The 5 volt USB power outlet's amp rating is unknown. It could be anywhere from 0.5 - 2.1 amps. Who knows? The power voltage AND AMP rating information should be clearly marked on the product or at least in the manual.

Summary:

I like this product. It's beautiful to watch. It's not much more to purchase this compared to buying a standard rack mount power strip without the nice LED display. It works well and it looks very nice.

I think most people will agree that having a power switch to turn off the power outlets would be a big plus.Read more ›

Didn't get the one I ordered, was supposed to be silver and came in black instead. No matter - can't say I care either way, was just surprised as some might care. Also, the rack mounts are removable, it is not a one piece face as the picture shows, but I actually prefer it as I do not have my gear mounted and most of it does not have the rack "ears". Works as expected. Was easy to set up. Only 2 minor complaints. One, the case seems to have a slight twist, so all four feet are not touching the component below it. Two, the power cable is only about 4 feet - too short! Seems all gear has a standard 6ft cord, not sure why they decided this unit should differ from that. Since it is measuring at line level, and you can adjust the output, it obviously isn't a true dB meter - rather just some eye candy. It's fun to watch. Nice to have extra outlets in the rack, not sure I would plug power amps into it though. I'd rather plug power direct into a wall outlet. I will reserve the new outlets for filters, processing, input devices, lights, etc....

Overall, because of the price, I cannot formally complain about this product. I would recommend it! I may even buy a second to display the subwoofer outputs....

FYI - not sure why it now shows it as twice the cost, but I paid $45.83 for this guy on 4/30/2015.... Shop around!

I like this unit. Is cheap and add a great look to the rack. Helps to review levels in your audio studio / DJ equipment.
You can combine several of this units to get 5.1, 7.1 and so on multi channel systems.

I was impressed with the fairly accurate smooth movement of the lights. Starting with a nice blue leds... nice!

There is left and right adjustments (manual) and a button to switch between normal, dot or auto. On auto, there is about 8 different led modes, some of them are spectacular.

The unit works like a PDU device as well so you don't waste 1U spaces in your rack. So you can connect some low consumption equipment in the back like EQ, Compressors, etc. I will not connect high consumption devices like power amps, etc.

The quality finish is very good, with a fresh glossy black finish. you can remove the rack brackets (I have one of this unit in my home theater system audio) Very nice.

The AC power cord is removable.

The Individual audio sensitivity adjustments for right and left meters works great.

You have in the back an In and Out rca connectors (white and red). You can pass the audio L & R through the device or just connect the input cables.

The front power button only turn off the db Meter, not the back AC outputs.

I will purchase more in the future and highly recommend this product.

WARNING ! Voltage leak into the chassis......I happened to touch the unit and got a shock...I got a volt meter and got 40 VAC from the DBPS30 chassis to a good earth ground...I have components plugged into this device in my rack....if the voltage was higher this device would be dangerous...so be careful if you purchase one of these...test it for A.C. voltage leaking into the chassis.......I am going to take this device out of service until I can investigate this problem and find the source of the problem if it is possible......just be warned if you wish to purchase one for yourself..........
