Most of my playing years have been spent using Remo heads. I had to switch over to some Evans snare heads a few years back and noticed a vast improvement in sound, ease of tuning and durability. The Hazy 300 should be no different than the Remo Snare Side Ambassador since they are essentially the same head but I find the 300 produces a fuller slightly darker sound. To me this head seems a little less finicky than the Ambassador with regard to tuning and seems to have added a wider tuning range to a few of my snare drums. All of my snares now use this head and I have been very pleased with the results.

I just replaced the stock heads on my Ludwig Power Accent snare with a 300 hazy and PureSound Blasters and wow did it make a great difference!! With the help of a tuner that takes in audible sound rather than an electric input, and an hour, I got the reso tuned to an A which I thought sounded great without the wires. With them engaged it sounds even better! There is virtually no buzz when I hit the toms around my snare too. I highly recommend this combo, especially since $27 between the two is much better than buying a nice snare if you're on a budget like I am. Plus, if you already have a nice snare, I don't see how these won't make it sound even better..

Definitely a great buy for me and I recommend it as well!

I've been a drummer/percussionist for most of my life and I've tried several different heads.
I was a Remo guy, an Aquarian guy, and even an Attack guy for a short while but all of these heads, though great seemed to be missing something, or have caveats that I had to live with. If I wanted a big sound, I couldn't have great projection, if I wanted great projection, I couldn't have bottom end and if I wanted durability, I had to sacrifice tone. It wasn't until I saw a great local band with a HUUUUUGE kick drum sound, that I found out after asking, "try these Evans heads". I did, and I haven't looked back since. These are some of the best, most easily tuned and durable heads you can get. I use these genera heads in combination with G2 batter heads and I get an awesome, huge tone with just the right amount of attack and bottom end. (tuned correctly of course.)
This has been my go to bottom snare head since the 90s. If you want versatility and ability to get a nice fat snare sound, pair this up with some Pure Sound thirty strand snares and you'll have one of the best snare tones around and still have a nice sensitive, reactive snare drum.

Purchased This head recently to replace a stock standard Pearl Pro-Tone Snare Resonant head- Improves the sound of the Snare so much, worth every cent.

I think I've used Evans snare side heads ever since I started playing years ago. I hit pretty hard...hard enough that I blew out the snare side head with a stroke on the batter side! Truth be told, that head was about due to be replaced. I like the tight, crisp sound that I get with the Evans Clear 300. Great head at a great price!

The Evan's heads are a great tool in your bag of tricks. They are always flawless. That goes without saying. When I am given a water damaged 1970s japanese no name (Stencil) kit made of old, battered, and thin mahogany, I know I can throw a set of Evan's on this and it will sound amazing. This is happening more and more, due the the "Budget Rock" genre emerging. Seems the coolest bands have the oldest and cheapest gear.
Evans can make this work by taking a drum set one might throw away and making it a go to set.
Well done Evans. We sure appreciate your products.

I've had resonant heads that came with wrinkles before but none quite this bad. I had to significantly alter the tension at 4 of my lugs and tune the drum very high in order to get the wrinkles out near the bearing in the 2 and 8 o'clock positions. I really don't like tuning it this high but it certainly makes the snares respond well. Unfortunately that also means more sympathetic vibration. I'm running with 1 moongel stuck on the inside andi t works well. I have a Remo power dot snare head on the beater side and with the hight tuning I'm using this snare, a 50 dollar pulse, sounds fantastic.

It's a 14" snare-side head. It does what it does. Not much to write here. Evans is quality equipment. I installed it, tuned it, and never saw it again. It tuned well and didn't break while I was installing it, although I've never broken a drum head by installing it. You don't pay much attention to snare-side heads for good reason - they're just there. It works. No problems. I used the 300 series. I don't put much thought into the snare-side. The Evans 300 series is typical and works in almost any situation. I paired it with my Evans Power Center batter head.

Mind you, I bought this head because my existing Evans 300 snare-side broke. It broke during a move however, not because I abused it or it failed.
