This product is an amazing deal for the price. It works well in almost any light, gives a crystal clear view, and it really is waterproof.
I have very poor distance vision, and to compensate for it I carry around a monocular with me. After the one that I had been using ended up filled with water when I accidentally dropped it into a puddle, I decided to look into a waterproof monocular. I ended up deciding on this one and am very glad that I did. It works better than many of the more expensive ones that I have tried, and is perfect for how I use it.
If I ever need another monocular (which I probably won't, because this one is so well built) then I will definitely look for a BARSKA before I consider any other brand.

For the money it is great buy. I ues it at 3d shoots to check out the targets. Nice and light, the optics pull in a good amount of light. I find it easy to ajust while using it with one hand. Top notch construction, however the wrist strap is not up to par nor is the belt pouch, but I just swithed out the wrist strap for one off my camera and the monocular it's small enough to fit in a jacket pocket or cargo pouch, fanny pack etc. A neck lanard would work well also, I'm thinking of getting one for mine.
I would highly recomend it to anyone who is looking for a good compact optic.

I have poor vision and a pocket monocular like the Brunton 7x18 is next to perfect. But I like to try other things so I ordered this. It is well made and has good optics but adjusting it is difficult/ I assume it's because of the o ring used for waterproofing. And it's heavy and fairly big. Near focus is about 8 or 10 feet. For handiness buy the Brunton 7x18 for half the price. It's a little bigger than my thumb and very easy to focus. The Barska 6x30 is about 3 times as big and 5 inches long and about 5 times as heavy. Knowing all that you can make an informed choice.

Pluses:

a. pocket size, it's really handy
b. adjustable eye relief (the eyecup twists in and out) works great
c. 6 x magnification means you can hold it steady with your hand and still keep an image in focus
d. the rubbery exterior is contoured so it fits in the hand well
e. nice little case, leatherette, but hey the whole thing was less than 40.00
e. good product from an American company..!

Minuses:

a. chintzy little strap
b. the focus ring is a little stiff and narrow, but it's not difficult to use, it's just not featherlight

For it's size, this thing cannot be beat. I use it for checking out other boats in an anchorage, some light stargazing, that kind of thing. The tiny 7 x 18 pocket scopes are worthless--I tried one of those at REI before I bought this and I'm glad I didn't waste my money. This is really pocket sized, it's not much bigger than those tiny scopes--but I feel like it's every bit as good a field of view as my Dad's expensive Bushnell 7 x 35 binoculars.

Very pleased.

6x30 is the maximum power you should ever consider for a hand held monocular. Any power greater than 6 is wasted as you cannot hold it steady. An objective smaller than a 30 mm lens is likely to be of poor quality and cannot make a sharp image (even when held motionless). IOW, the first number (the magnifying power) should never be greater than 6, and the second number (the objective lens diameter) should never be less than 30.

This meets these requirements and is actually of good optical quality.

I use this nifty little optic for sighting raptors while I run, and also for incidental birding during my daily activities. It's light, small enough to use in one hand, and has highly adjustable eye relief. Equally useful for those with glasses, and those with long eyelashes. I usually keep the monocular focused to a medium distance, and make small adjustments from there if needed.

Pros:
- light weight.
- can be used with one hand (if already focused).
- relatively low magnification = a brighter, steadier image than with a higher magnification monocular.
- included soft case (the zipper on my case was broken upon delivery, which is basically why I'm giving this product 4 stars).

Cons:
- yes, the focus ring is stiff; this means that frequently needing to radically change focus will become annoying.
- wrist strap is lame - I attached a keyring and a neoprene lanyard.
- lack of lens caps is aggravating.

If you have a spare and *roomy* hard case for sunglasses/eyeglasses, this monocular will mostly fit that amount of space.

Overall, I think this is a great "budget birding" monocular. Though relatively bulky, it's still small enough to fit into most jacket or puffer vest pockets. Extremely light-weight and obviously fits into all those little storage pockets in most messenger bags. The Barska 6x30 monocular is very useful to me for id-ing raptors and small songbirds in both sunny and overcast conditions.

I was looking for something to use while shooting archery. Most shooters use large binoculars but those tend to be too cumbersome. I noticed someone else uses them to shoot 3-D's, so I thought I'd give them a try. After a few uses I grew to really like them. They fit nicely into my quiver pocket and the optics seem adequate for my purpose (15 to 35 yds). Longer distances are a problem as you don't have the magnification to make out fine details. The reason for only four stars is because the instructions provided with the unit are generic and worthless. The monocular use is easily figured out but takes time away from shooting to do this.
