Being a heavy user of my iPhone 3G, I really needed an extended battery. The Mophie has by far the best design. And it performs as advertised, boosting my usage by double.

Here's the down side:
1. Heavy. Man, is this thing a brick. But I need the extra battery life badly enough to put up with it.

2. Fit and Finish. Had to return one because the top didn't line with the bottom on the right side. It stuck out so far you could tell it was an accident waiting to happen. The replacement's fit wasn't much better, but I no longer feared it getting snapped off during use. If the left side could line up so flush, why not the right, Mophie?

3. Hot. When you switch on the battery to charge your phone, it gets substantially hot. Worrisome.

4. Unique plug. The Mophie cord is actually sturdier than the Apple iPhone cord but I would have liked to have had the option to use my original cord. Plus the small plug on the Mophie end wiggles a bit too much for my liking.

Thus the 3 star rating. Good. But could use some improvement.

I had this two days ago from Amazon.com
The package of this juice pack indicates that a considered effort in the company's output is clear.
It contained the juice pack of course, MINI USB cable and a manual
The iphone slides perfectly inside and secured by the top cover...
The thickness almost doubled and the device feels almost 200% heavier

Its capacity is 1200 mA which equals to 60% of the original iphone battery which has 1800mA
So I made two tests for this battery...

1- I recharged the battery while attached to the iphone and kept the switch off, then drained the battery till the iphone's battery was 40% ... As per my calculations, the juice pack should recharge my iphone up to 100% as it will consume about 90% of the juice pack power ...... and it DID in about an hour :-)

2- The second test I recharged the iphone along with the juice pack while the switch is on .....
As a heavy user .... My iphone would not survive more than 14-16 hours .... So I would say that I will consume 60% of my battery life in about 10-12 hours .....
The juice pack survived and kept my iphone battery indicator at 100% for 9 hours before the iphone battery indicator starts to drop.

I would say that this pack increased the survival time of my iphone to nearly 2 times
Pros: this juice pack is perfect for those heavy users; it would survive the longest airplane trip known, Solid built, smooth surface, the crave in the bottom for the speakers and microphone didn't make an echo (as I expected) when using the hands free mode.

Cons: The weight of my iphone increased more 200% I assume .... I could feel the iphone in my pocket now.Read more ›

I'm very happy with the Mopie Juice Air it is an excellent product that gives me piece of mind that my iPhone won't run down and for the price I paid/ being new in box(said refurbed but was only missing the outside box was new in every other way) I can't imagine being unhappy. Just a note for iPhone users coming from the otterbox the outside (rubber)case of the otterbox works fairly well on the Mophie with a little tweaking and makes you feel safer with it on.

*** Edit as of 5/29/2013: My Mophie power seems to be dropping rapidly not sure if it's because it's been sitting in storage for a couple of years or what. Either way I'm going back to charging every time I use it, not the way Mophie says will work best(only charge between 20-80% of charge according to Mophie's instructions seemed to make it last a lot less as long)going back to charging whenever I use it and it will go back to 5 stars if the charge improves, also it's tearing it up but I've been trying to get it out(also afraid to damage the phone) but this maybe in part due to a skin that I've put on it to protect it out of the case which I can't get it off of now (removing the back skin if I can get it out it's literally stuck in the Mophie and I've damaged the Mophie trying to get it out(a crack where the Mophie emblem is and the bottom where it connects with the phone has scratched plastic hopefully there's little to no damage to the phone although some scratches of the silver part of the phone wouldn't surprise me in the least, I went with what I call safety crazy and I'm now stuck). Will try to update if things improve either way. Still a very fine product and I'd highly recommend but I've got to drop the ratings for right now. ***

Mophie is a 2-in-1 combination case and and spare battery.

My 3GS is now getting old that the battery has gone to around 60% from its full capacity compared when it was new. I thought about replacing the battery myself which I have done before with my older iPod, but this time I don't want to open it myself and decided to get the Juice Pack instead.

BATTERY CAPACITY (just a tad lower than the original battery):
Original 3GS battery = 1219 mAh
Mophie Juice Pack = 1200 mAh
Good for 500 full recharges

It comes with a micro USB cable to connect to a PC or a USB power adapter. You can either charge the juice pack alone or have the iPhone in it and charge them together. The Juice Pack instruct the iPhone to use the spare battery first before using the iPhone own battery; so, once the Juice Pack battery is exhausted, you still have a full battery on your iPhone. There is a standby button at the bottom if you want to do it manually.

My initial response when I slid the phone was that there is a gap at the bottom, that it doesn't have a nice fit. I found out later that that was designed to avoid blocking the speakers.

BULKY:
Bulkiness is the main complaint. But I am used to my Otter Box iPhone case; it is another type of case that is bulky but without the extra battery. The Otter Box has an extra protection as it comes with built-in screen protector, bezel around the screen, and silicone wrapped hard plastic shell. The bezel interferes a bit when you are typing close to the edge like the letter "p" and the number "0", which is hardly the case with the Mophie

It is nice. I got the white one which is pretty but more prone to scratches and smudges.

Mine didn't affect reception as others have noted.Read more ›
