I've been using rechargeable batteries in wireless mics for years. I've usually used Ansmann products, but the Tenergy 250mAh one had great reviews. Also, my go-to Ansmann 250mAh was not available. I read some negative reviews on the Ansmann 300mAh so I wanted an alternative and tried the Tenergy.

I was dismayed on Sunday when using my new Tenergy battery (fully charged of course) my mic quit before the end of the service. I had gotten about 2.5 hours of use out of it between the rehearsal and two song services. I've never had one quit on me in that short a time.

I ordered two other batteries and did a shootout. I put all the batteries in identical mics (Shure ULX Beta87's) and left the power on sitting on a desk. I believe that using the mics actively would shorten the times but be harder to compare accurately.

Here are the mics I compared:
Tenergy 4 pieces of 9V 250mAh NiMH high capacity rechargeable Battery
Ansmann 50354539V 300 mAh Low Discharge Rechargeable Battery
Maha Powerex 9 Volt Size Rechargeable NiMH Battery [8.4 Volts, 300mAh] (this product)
(I've had issues with Powerex before because the voltage was too high for the mics. However, this one is the 8.4V model and did just fine.)
I also had a brand new Ansmann 250 mah on hand to compare.

but this one is a winner, a lot of rechargeable 9v batteries range from 7.2v, 8.4, and 9.6, depending on how sensitive your gear is select carefully. This one works great in my kids remote controls, they constantly forget to switch them off, so that would have been very expensive in alkaline versions.

powerex and Maha are superb brands when it comes to rechargeable batteries and chargers

I purchased this for use in a portable headphone amplifier I built (AMB Labs Mini3) and since constructing it, I have not needed to open the amp, it charges well, lasts a decent amount of time and has been going strong for a year now! If you need a rechargable 9 volt, this will meet your needs and provide reliable performance for quite some time.

I bought these items because of their relatively large life and of course for their ability to be recharged. We purchased the Lenmar Pro9V2 charger for regular use and had no problems with charging these batteries with that charger. Two units were used in different applications after being charged; one unit indicated 0 (ZERO) VDC when measured with a multimeter, the second unit overheated and deformed (warping the plastic cover) and was removed from service. I understand that these units are not to be charged for an extended period of time, but both of these failures occurred AFTER they were charged and either in a unit for use or ready to be installed for use. This is a very high defect rate for the total of 8 units I had originally purchased. I will now be purchasing an Energizer battery with less life in the hopes that they will be less defect prone.
