If you aren't willing to sign up for stamps.com pre-paid mailing/label services to the tune of $[...] or more per month, then the scale will be absolutely useless to you.

This scale is pretty convenient, because it continuously reads the weight into the [...] software. When you want to print postage, it is really direct. It requires no batteries. Sometimes, it has to be reset by turning it off and on again.

The problem comes not with the hardware or software, but with [...] advertising practices. They say that you get the scale free with your trial membership, and they give its "value". But the truth is it is virtually worthless once you cancel the monthly membership. It only works when you log in to the software, and you can easily get cut off from being able to log in to the software once you stop paying the monthly fee.

I was able to download a driver that worked perfectly with this scale without using the [...] software. When it was running, it displayed the weight to the nearest 1/10th ounce up to 5 pounds continuously on the screen. Unfortunately, I lost it, and have never been able to find it, again. Today, though, I noticed a program for sale on Ebay for $5.00 ([...] Model 510 USB Scale driver). I might buy that program or buy a new scale.

Old Stamps.com scale started to die after maybe 2 years of light use, so I got this one because it was the cheapest one. This is the cheapest Stamps.com scale, but it is not worth the $50 price tag. This scale's construction is cheap. It is a bloated price. I gave it 3 star because it'll work for a while.

Be warned! this product is not in the normal sense of the word a scale. Not only does it not display the weight on the scale itself, requiring the installation of third-party software but that software requires a paid subscription!

This product does not operate as a reasonable person would expect!

I first received this as a gift. I was a little irritated that I would need a subscription to use it. HOWEVER...

I found that a program can be downloaded from various sellers on ebay. Search for "stamps model 510 software" and at least one seller will show.

After installing the program it works fine on any computer from XP - Win8 (32/64-bit.)

This scale is the standard scale sold by Stamps.com. It works fine, and is useful for weighing anything that weighs less than 5 lbs. Please be aware that, in order to use this scale, you must have the stamps.com software (which you get for free when you subscribe to their service). The scale is sensitive, and gives weights in lbs. and oz., and the weight is viewed on your computer's screen. I already had one, and wanted another to use with a second computer.
