In this purchase, I got more than I expected to receive. I got a a great pencil sharpener, yes! And in addition, there is a little raised circle on two sides of the pencil sharpener. What are these for? Read and find out.

This sharpener does a vastly superior job at sharpening my watercolor pencils compared to other hand held sharpeners I have purchased and used. 1. It is easy to hold (particularly important if you have difficulty grasping round objects),
2. This sharpener has two different sizes of sharpeners (which you will be thankful for)--don't assume you have the correct one, but try them out
3. It is easy to see the quantity of shavings inside, and once you have emptied your sharpener, it closes up securely. Mine has never come open accidentally. Only on purpose.
4. In addition, I was surprised to find that you can use it to sharpen leads, such as the lead you might use in a compass. I have never before seen a sharpener for those types of leads. If you look at the picture and see a red circle, that tells you
Go ahead and splurge on a really nice hand held pencil sharpener. Better yet, buy several and keep one in each place where you use your pencils. with your pencils in

I purchased one of these last fall, and the blade in Hole No. 1 was dull. Brand new product, dull blade. I thought I didn't know how to use it until someone changed my blade (to prevent a return of the product). After switch, works only ok in hole #1, and of course that means I really didn't get four functional blades. Also, be careful and don't empty the shavings over something that you can't happily access; you may need to dig through the trash when the replacement blades fall out of their storage spot - it happened to me twice.

I still use it, but don't feel bad if you buy one and it doesn't seem to work; it's probably not you!

Have had several small sharpeners and all have lacked the ability to sharpen leaving a point. After a short time they break the lead and don't work very well. The Kum Automatic Long Point Pencil Sharpener leave a long point on your pencil~doesn't break off the lead and is easy to use. Easy open lid to empty the shavings~two holes both regular pencil size which is a plus. Most have a big hole and a pencil size hole. We only have use for a sharpener for a regular size pencil. I would suggest you give this a try if you want a clean cut with a long point on your pencil.

Good sharpener. I was just wondering when to quit turning for hole number 1. For hole number 2, it would have been better if the sharpened wood after sharpening from hole number 1 fit exactly into hole number 2. It jiggles when I sharpen the lead.

I can sharpen my pencil and color pencils with ease. This sharpener makes the lead very fine and pointed. Can even sharpen lead alone with side holes. Be careful a sharp pencil can be used to stab, with this sharpener it WILL surely stab someone!

I absolutely love it! After watching Youtube reviews and reading reviews, I decided to purchase 2. I am definitely happy with the purchase. I only spent a little over $8 each, and I have spent WELL OVER the 17 total for two on buying sharpener after sharpener to try to get a decent point. If you are using pencils for art, these are especially great. The #1 side sharpens the wood off from around the lead, and the #2 side sharpens just the lead. I've seen reviews where people mention that it makes a great sharpener for "two different sizes" but that is not the point of this sharpener. (No pun intended, but enjoyed!) I've also seen a review where the person asked when to know when to stop turning the pencil, I think, on the wood side. So FYI to those who want to know, if you look in the sharpener and see where it says "STOP", that is how far you can let the pencil sharpen to until the lead hits that ledge. But you don't have to if you don't want to - you will still get a sharp point when you use the #2 side to sharpen the lead. I generally sharpen almost to the stop point on the wood and then sharpen on the lead side until I feel it starting to sharpen the wood on that side. I want #2 blade saved for the leads only.
Just a side note, of course I tried this on my "cheaper" colored pencils first, before sharpening my more expensive ones. I used Crayola pencils as my cheap ones (they are cheap) and I didn't expect the wood to be as smooth as it is, but this sharpener sharpened the wood very smoothly with no catches. Then I tried it on my Prismacolor Col-Erase pencils, which tend to have wood that catches in a sharpener, and even those sharpened smoothly on the wood! You have to be gentle when sharpening the lead of them, but it performed fine on that as well.
