I bought this pair of outdoor speakers to be able to playback music in my backyard, I pair them with the receiver I bought and have a feature for Zone 2 (which allows you to playback different sources in two separate ambient) I have an onkio receiver (link below):
Onkyo HT-S7700 5.1.2-Ch Dolby Atmos Ready Network A/V Receiver/Speaker Package
The speakers are 8ohms which is fine for the powered output of my zone 2 in my onkio, I tested them just when they arrived and the sound quality is ok for the price, it is not something to brag about nothing professional but to play back music in the back yard are great. I mean you can see that they won’t handle very low frequencies but that is ok for the type of music I listen, on the other hand even when they don’t have too much RMS watts they sound just fine at short distances in the back yard, I would say they are perfect to have a background of music that allows you to talk with your guess while you prepare some ribs or a nice rib-eye, again I don’t think these are designed to supply sound for an entire backyard but for casual meetings these would work great.
On the other hand it is important to high light I used 16-Gauge Speaker Wire, which is ok for me because my system is not more than 18 feet away from the speakers, and I’m not looking for a professional sound experience, I would recommend 14-gauge wire if your distance is much long than that just to be sure that your speakers will receive enough power and the signal is not too degraded.Read more ›
