If you're searching for the BEST TASTING protein mix, this is it hands-down! But if you're like me, you'll soon find that it gets quite expensive and you're always running low or out of it because of the SMALL cans. I started out with the 1.65 lb cans and with only 15 servings per container, that was lasting only ONE WEEK with one shake in the morning and one after a workout or Tae Kwon Do class. This 3.3 lb can will get you through 2 weeks at 2 shakes a day...But you're still talking about $90/month or more for a protein supplement. And if you take 3 a day (directions suggest 2-3 servings/day), then you'll go through the 1.65 lb can in 5 days and this 3.3 lb can in 10 days. At that rate, you'll also be paying around $130-$150/month at current Amazon prices. While I have found "cheaper" prices online, they stick it to you on shipping charges and can take several days to get it to you. Amazon's Muscle Milk Light prices with FREE 2-day Prime shipping are pretty hard to beat!

The TASTE is simply excellent! It tastes more like a melted Vanilla Frosty from Wendy's than a protein supplement. However, I kept looking for alternatives because it really does get expensive. I went through a process and found an acceptable substitute that may help those of you also searching for a protein supplement that works, tastes good and doesn't break the bank. Long story short, here's what I mix:

This product seems very deceptive. The only real difference between MM Light and MM Original is the serving size (25g vs 35g). When comparing equivalent serving sizes, these products have nearly identical nutritional stats. MM Light is roughly 20% more expensive. For that premium you basically get a smaller scoop. Nice.

I'm often in a rush, like so many of us these days, and simply forget to give myself time to eat breakfast. Being aware that lighting the metabolism fire as early as possible allows for more burned calories throughout the day, I needed a way to get breakfast done quickly. I'm not a fan of eating early, so decided a protein shake would work as the slow release energy would tide me over until lunch, where I could eat a decent portion of healthy food.

I currently have been using Banana Creme Muscle Milk Light for a month and combined with a light exercise regime (stationary cycle, kayak and weights) and 2 other healthy meals a day, being sure to not cross my threshold of 2000 calories a day, I have lost over 10 pounds this month. I purchased an Omron Full Body Sensor Body Fat and Body Composition Monitor to be sure it is not just water weight I am losing and I also make sure to drink at least 64oz of water a day.

Weight loss has never been this easy and I'm not using any gimmicks or "as seen on TV" products to achieve it. I do take a Centrum Performance pill every morning as well, to make up for any potential loss of nutrients and vitamins.

So for me Muscle Milk Light is a great addition to my daily diet, as it helps me feel full for the morning and kick-starts my fire in the morning. I have more energy throughout the day because of it too.

Flavors i have tried...
Strawberry Milkshake - Tastes great with water or milk
Chocolate Milk - Personally i didn't care for this one with water, but it was more tolerable with milk (I might be too picky with my chocolate taste buds)
Banana Creme - Tastes wonderful with water, have not tried with milk yet
Cookies N'Creme - My new favorite. Even with just water it tasted like ice cream! Looks like it too, well liquid form anyways.

All were mixed with a blender bottle. Mixes very well.

I can't believe this is on the market for consumer consumption. It's scary that this would be allowed. After reading an article about protein drinks in Consumer Reports magazine I quit drinking Muscle Milk and returned it to Amazon. You, as a consumer, should read the article. It's shocking and eye opening. "The samples of Muscle Milk Chocolate powder we tested contained all four heavy metals, and levels of three metals in the product were among the highest of all in our tests...Cadmium raises special concern because it accumulates in and can damage the kidneys, the same organs that can be damaged by excessive protein consumption. And it can take 20 years for the body to eliminate even half the cadmium absorbed today." The heavy metals in the product are arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. "Robert Wright, M.D., an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, who is conducting research on the health effects of exposure to toxic metals, says, 'Small amounts of exposure are inevitable, but a product that exceeds the USP limit is clearly doing something wrong.'"
