I have been sewing for over 40 years and currently have 3 machines. Each takes a different kind of bobbin. They all fit in these rings, but not all in the same ring. It is true that the rings will hold small and large bobbins, but if you have large bobbins in one and try to store small bobbins in with them, the ring is stretched just enough that the small bobbin won't stay in snugly. I had been storing my bobbins in those clear, rigid plastic boxes that have little compartments for each bobbin. The thing that frustrated me was that if the boxes get moved very much (which they do in my sewing room) the bobbins are still loose enough that the threads unwind and get all tangled. These flexible Bobbin Savers hold the bobbin securely--no unwinding thread.
Another factor in my bobbin storage is that I have polyester threads and cotton threads. On their original spools it is simple to differentiate, but once they have been wound on a bobbin it is a little harder to tell which is which. Some tasks require specific threads and I was tired of doing the burn test to see which fiber was on the bobbin that was the right color. Now I label the bobbin savers with permanent markers (reading "cotton" and "polyester") and it is so easy to pop the bobbins into these holders when I have just finished with them and still remember what fiber I was using. I never just lay the bobbin down and think I will bother with it later. I currently have three Bobbin Savers and plan to get more.

I used these bobbin savers for a few years, and they have a number of aspects that I liked. However, a number my comments and the other solution useful or interesting:

I liked

1) I liked that I can see the color of the threads without having to take bobbins out
2) They are small so I could keep them on my sewing table while I work

I did not like

1) I now have more bobbins than fit into the holders
2) They always seem to be in the way, I found myself always moving them around

I found an alternative solution that works for me better. I use one of my thread racks like this one 120 Spool Wood Thread Rack - By Threadart for bobbins. The rack hangs on the wall, so it is accessible but totally out of the way. I can fit three bobbins on every peg. So I dedicated three rows to bobbins with three bobbin on top of each, organized by color (light, medium, dark on each peg for that color). The colors are easy to see and bobbins are well organized, so when I need a shade I know exactly where to find it.

Overall I give it 4 stars because it works fine especially if you have only a few bobbins. If you have a ton of bobbins then check out the thread rack solution. Happy Sewing!

So I bought several different bobbin holders from various manufacturers over the years and these are the best. I mostly use big bobbins for my walking foot machines and like to prewind different colors and store for different manufacturing. First of all, most of the other bobbin holders on the market say they hold small and large bobbins but they do not. These do, perfectly. 2nd - these are a soft rubber material that stretches a little when a bobbin is inserted. This holds the thread on the bobbin and keeps it from unwinding in the holder. Very cool. They are small enough to fit on your table and not get in the way, but big enough to hold about 20 bobbins. Lastly, they are totally affordable! Well worth the money - I have since bought like
20 more.

They work great! Keeps my bobbins from unwinding and making a mess. I can fit 25 bobbins in each. I would definitely purchase these again!

I've started seriously sewing in the past 6 months, and I've accumulated a ton of bobbins with all different colors of thread. They don't fit into my thread box very well (they come unrolled). I tried keeping them in the bobbin box that comes with purchase, and they were a mess and it was difficult to find the exact color I wanted.

With these, I keep them stacked in the corner of my sewing table, and I have one that's still empty, one with neutral threads, and one with a rainbow of colors. This grips the thread tail so it stays in place! You can also scootch them around the ring to make room for a new bobbin (to keep them in color order, of course), though you can only move about 2-3 at a time.

I have three sewing machines..two singers and a Janome. They don't use the same bobbins, so i needed a way to keep them separate, but differentiate from the two. These little rings (and they are much smaller than I thought-about 5" in diameter) hold a bunch of bobbins very securely. I have 22 in one, and there's easily room for at least 4 more. They're a little expensive, but I like the ease of access...when I change out a bobbin, this is on my tabletop...I grab this and remove the one I need and pop in the one I don't.

I just got this today, and so far I absolutely love it. It fits my bobbins perfectly and I can insert the bobbins in such a way where the thread doesn't dangle or unwind. It's light and small and fits easily in my sewing box and holds the bobbins securely so even if the thing gets tossed into a sewing bag or flipped upside down, nothing comes flying out. It's big enough to hold plenty of bobbins, I'd estimate 20-25 no problem and the set comes with 3.

It comes with directions on how to kind of mold the edges if your bobbins are bigger or smaller than standard. Totally met all my needs and expectations.
